Harpursville @ Unadilla Valley Ladies – Sectional Quarterfinal – Update 2

It’s all tied up 19-19 at the half!  There have been 3 leads changes and 2 ties in the game so far.  Amanda Off (UV) leads the scoring with 13 points and Miranda Drummond (Harp) has 10 points.  Other scores that have been reported in are Unatego over Tioga 19-12 at the half, and Elmira Notre Dame leads Bainbridge-Guilford 21-4 at the half.  Join us for the second half, coming up on WCDO AM/FM, as well as streaming online at WCDOSports.com!

WCDO Sports Congratulates High School Football Student Athlete Award Winners

WCDO Sports broadcast 19 local High School football games, featuring a total of 16 local and area varsity football programs as they competed throughout the season. Games can be followed throughout the season both on-the-air on WCDO 100.9 FM and 1490 AM, as well as online at WCDORadio.com. During the post-game of each broadcast, three separate awards are given to outstanding players. WCDO Sports would like to thank NBT Bank, The Catalog Outlet Stores, and Smith Insurance of Sidney for supporting the player of the game awards program throughout the season with the NBT Bank Outstanding Offense award, The Catalog Outlet Dynamic Defense award, and The Smith Insurance All-Purpose Player award. A total of 57 awards were given this season honoring 41 student athletes from 14 area schools.

Sidney Warriors:
The Sidney Warriors (6-3) had 9 athletes recognized for a total of 16 awards this season. Nate McDonald brought home a team leading 4 awards, 2 offense and 2 all-purpose. Billy Kozak had a total of 3 awards, one in each category. Jerrid Cubby and Brandon Walters were awarded twice each, Cubby for Defense, and Walters the all purpose player. Pat Vibbard and Austin McCarroll were each awarded an Offensive player of the game award . Michael Chase and Damien Zimmer each received a Defensive Player of the game award, and Austin Dean was honored as an All-Purpose Player. Congratulations to the Sidney Warriors on their season.

Unatego Spartans:
The Unatego Spartans (6-3) had 6 athletes recognized for a total of 9 awards this season. Tyler Butler brought home a team leading 3 awards, 2 All-purpose and 1 Offense. David VanAlstine was awarded offensive player twice. Josh Feyerabend was awarded an Offensive player, and Ethan Barber, Norman Andaya, and Derek Liner each brought home a Defensive award apiece. Congratulations to the Unatego Spartans on their season.

Harpursville Hornets:
The Harpursville Hornets (7-2) had 6 athletes recognized for a total of 7 awards this season. Steven Lee brought home a team leading 2 awards, 1 Offense and 1 All Purpose. John Andrews was awarded an Offense player. Taylor Niles and Dylan McCaffrey were awarded Defensive player, while Mason Dean and Devon Dean each were awarded an All-Purpose player. Congratulations to the Harpursville Hornets on their season.

Bainbridge Bobcats:
The Bainbridge Bobcats (5-4) had 5 athletes recognized for a total of 8 awards this season. Jake Mazzarella brought home a team leading 3 awards, 2 All-Purpose and 1 Offense. Justin Cirigliano and Corbin Palmer with an Offensive award each, and Mike Nordberg and Cole Webb with a Defensive each. Congratulations to the Bainbridge Bobcats on their season.

Groton Indians:
While outside of our typical coverage, the Groton Indians figured prominently into WCDO Sports broadcasts during the final weekends of play, defeating Bainbridge-Guilford on 10/19 and Harpursville on 10/27. Three Groton players brought home a total of 4 nods for player of the game awards. Zeke Wright was awarded twice, (one in each game) one for defensive play on 10/19 and one for offensive play on 10/27. Joey Scaglione was awarded the offensive player 10/19 and Zack Didrickson the Defensive player 10/27.

Chenango Forks Blue Devils:
The Chenango Forks Blue Devils were featured in two broadcasts this season as Unatego traveled to Chenango Forks on 9/1 and Chenango Forks took on Sidney on 10/5. Three Chenango Forks athletes were awarded a total of four awards in these two games. Isaiah Zimmer won an Offense and on All Purpose Player award. Jack Sherwood was awarded a defense and Cody DeOrdio an All Purpose Player.

Other Area Schools:
A total of 9 awards were awarded in 8 other area schools. Norwich players Zan Stewart and Grant Brightman received an Offense and a Defense respectively. Offensive awards were also awarded to Dylan Guttierez of Waverly and Mike Beckwith of Greene. Defensive awards were also awarded to Devlin Farr of Newark Valley, Mike Beers of Walton, and Justin Hofer of Unadilla Valley. All Purpose Player awards went to Ben Denison of Delhi and Ryan Vergason of Tioga.

WCDO Sports will be back with more local sports broadcasts featuring both Men’s and Women’s Varsity Basketball teams this upcoming season. Games can be heard on the air at 100.9 FM and 1490 AM. Schedule Change

Due to storm preparations at UEHS, the High School Football schedule has been rearranged for this weekend.  All of the games we will be carrying will take place at Binghamton’s Alumni Stadium.  We will now be able to do all three games in their entirety!  Here’s the lineup:

11AM – Unatego vs. Tioga

5PM – Sidney vs. Waverly

8PM – Harpursville vs Groton

We will start our first broadcast of the day at 10:45am with the Chambers and O’Hara pregame show, and Unatego vs Tioga will kick off at 11am.  At the conclusion of that game, we will resume regular programming.  Then at 4:45pm we will start the double header broadcast for the evening and will be in constant coverage through the end of the Harpursville vs Groton game.  Catch the games on the air at WCDO, or stream them live anywhere in the world via the web at WCDOSports.com!

This Saturday, WCDO Sports is going to be busy bringing you Sectional Semi-final matchups!  We’ll call it a “Double and a Half header” because there are 3 great matchups on Saturday October 27th,and we’re going to push the technology boundaries and bring you coverage of all three games from two separate locations!  Join us Saturday afternoon at 12:45 for the first Chamber’s and O’hara pregame show of the day, both on-the-air and on the live stream courtesy of SFCU at WCDOSports.com!  Here’s the games and the times!

Harry Graves and Billy Blake will bring you the Unatego vs Tioga matchup in it’s entirety, followed immediately by the Harpursville vs Groton game.  At the conclusion of that game, we will switch venues and bring you the conclusion of the Sidney vs Waverly game, likely picking up coverage in the 3rd quarter or so.  We’ll start the broadcast at 12:45 and be in constant coverage through the end of the Sidney vs Waverly game both on the air in the Tri-counties at 100.9 FM and 1490 AM, and world-wide via the stream at WCDOSports.com!  Of course, each game will feature the Mirabito Energy Products halftime show, and a total of NINE awards will be given (3 in each game) on Saturday, courtesy of NBT Bank, The Catalog Outlet Stores, and Smith Insurance!  Join your local sports leader, WCDO, for all the action this Saturday!
