Dr. James Terzian conducted a post mortem examination of both sets of human remains, from Tuesday’s fire in Walton,  one of the deceased has been identified as 48 year old Debra Sundstrom of Walton, with the cause of death being suicide and cause of death being a gunshot to the head.  Identification of the second set of human remains, as well as manner and cause of death is pending. The fire at the house on John Lockwood road Tuesday in Walton has been ruled as arson. The Investigation is continuing.

State troopers in Greene arrested 30 year old Christopher Lindow of Smithville Flats for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .12%.  The arrest resulted from an investigation into a one-car accident on Shafer Road in Greene,  Lindow was released with tickets to appear in the Town of Greene Court today.

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission is urging New York’s U.S. senators and congressmen to keep the pressure up in order to secure federal funds to avert the March 1st  shut-down of 18 stream gauges and 16 rain gauges in the southern tier. the funding is $215,000 a year, Stream Gauges scheduled to be shut down are located at the Susquehanna River – Bainbridge. Binghamton, Oneonta, Vestal, Windsor & in the Chenango River at Greene, Norwich, Oxford, & Sherburne & in the Unadilla River at Rockdale.  Rain gauges would be turned off at Vestal, Bainbridge, Oxford, Sherburne, Morris & Oneonta locally.

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested 29-year-old Daniel Harmon of Smyrna for 4th degree Grand Larceny and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Harmon is accused of stealing a purse  from a shopping cart at the Big M Supermarket in Sherburne, while in the company of his  daughter.  Harmon was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Sherburne Court at a later date.

The United Way of Delaware & Otsego Counties Is 1 week away from wrapping up their annual fundraising campaign.  Executive Director Terry Capuano explains:

Capuano said that they are just under their 100% stated goal of the year, and they anticipated another year of great need in the counties, as many are still trying to rebound from the major storms of the last 2 years.

State Troopers in Sidney arrested 42-year-old Patrick Seeley of Mount Upton for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .15%.  The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle accident in Guilford; Seeley was arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on bail.

Governor Cuomo announced “New York Open for Fishing and Hunting” plan to streamline hunting and fishing licenses and reduce license fees to support tourism. The proposal is part of the 30-day amendments to the 2013-14 Executive Budget.   Under the new plan, anglers will get a full year of fishing no matter when they purchase the license. Also, the proposal consolidates both small-game and big-game license privileges into a single hunting license.  The proposal also makes the marine fishing registration permanent & will continue to be free.
