A.M. NEWS FRIDAY 2-21-14

State Police investigated a home invasion burglary at 941 State Route 79, in the Town of Windsor.  2 white male subjects entered the residence of 56-year-old Kenneth Birdsill asking to use his phone; they assaulted Birdsill and stole prescription medication and an undetermined amount of cash. The subjects fled in a 4 door gray or light green Nissan with driver’s side front quarter panel damage.  The suspects are described as 2 white males, one with long brown hair approximately 6 feet tall and one with short blond hair, approximately 5’8”. The State Police are asking that anyone with information to call 775-1241.

Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 41-year-old Delaware County Jail inmate Kahlil Williams for an assault in the Jail on February 11th. Williams allegedly struck another inmate in the face with his fists, causing injuries that required medical treatment. Williams was charged with one count of 3rd degree Assault, he was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and remanded back to the County Jail on $500 cash bail.

The newly passed federal farm bill has a provision to expand broadband into poorly served rural areas.  Congressman Chris Gibson said that for farmers, up to the minute information is critical:

Gibson said that farmers could get assistance with the new farm bill through Cornell cooperative extension.
