State Police & The Norwich Police Department report that the body discovered near the railroad tracks in the town of Norwich Wednesday morning has been identified as 51-year-old Krista Kosowsky of Norwich, who had been reported missing since Friday June 28th.  An autopsy was conducted Wednesday at Lourdes hospital, which failed to reveal any trauma or injuries, the cause and manner of death is undetermined pending toxicology results.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigated a stabbing in Smithville, where a 20-year-old male had been stabbed and the suspect fled the area along with another male.  Police arrested Jabal Rodriguez for Felony Assault; he was arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.  Also charged was Luis Almestica for Obstruction of Governmental Administration, he was arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash bail.  The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

State Police and Endicott Police arrested 43-year-old Morris Simmons & 31 year old Wixie Nickerson of Endicott, on a variety of charges.  Simmons was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Tampering with Evidence, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia & Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Nickerson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Simmons & Nickerson were arraigned and were remanded to the Broome County jail without bail.
