The state’s Gaming Facility Location Board agreed Friday that they will reopen a bidding process for the Southern Tier that could result in a 4th casino license. Last month the board only recommended that 3 licenses be awarded, snubbing the Southern tier which was slated to be 1 of 4 casino options. Governor Cuomo urged the Gaming Commission to issue a new request for applications for a license in the Southern Tier. The location board is scheduled to hold a meeting Tuesday to discuss the new request; meanwhile, the owners of Traditions in Johnson City have backed down from their initial proposal & now support a full Las Vegas-style casino at Tioga Downs in Nichols.
