A.M. NEWS MONDAY 5-20-13

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 38-year-old Ganesh Remy Ramsaran of New Berlin Friday, for the murder of his wife Jennifer last December, her body was found in a wooded area 3 months later.  Ramsaran was charged with 2nd degree murder, he was arraigned in Chenango County Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $150,000 bail.  Ramsaran faces a felony hearing Thursday in New Berlin Town Court.

Governor Cuomo announced that today starts a 14-day statewide “Buckle Up New York” campaign to crack down on drivers and their passengers who are not wearing seat belts.  Troop C Commanding Officer Major Kevin Molinari explains:

This year’s effort runs through June 2nd, & law enforcement agencies that share state borders will team up for “Operation Border to Border” to provide increased seat belt enforcement at border sites.

The city of Oneonta public service department will be chip-sealing area streets, starting Monday morning.  All cars must be removed from affected streets by 7:00 AM Monday on Prospect, Richmond, Bronk, Cleveland, brook & pearl, on Tuesday, vehicles must be removed by 7:00 AM on Reynolds Ave, Franklin, Harmon & Morse.  More information is available at 432-2100.
