The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigated a shooting at 427 Lyon Brook Road in the Town of Oxford. Deputies reported that a victim was shot at through the passenger side of the vehicle he was operating; he was then involved in a motor vehicle accident fleeing the area. A search warrant was executed, and 40-year-old Martin Provo was found in a wooded area. Deputies recovered the shotgun along with shell casings, seized approximately 1.75 ounces of cocaine, several pounds of marihuana, a digital scale, over $3,800 in cash, & several guns. Provo was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of Marihuana, he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-Year-old Michael Buck of Cooperstown for 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, & criminal use of a firearm. Buck is accused of killing his father, 64-year-old Joseph Buck in the family home on Indian Run Road. Buck was arraigned Sunday morning at Bassett hospital, by Otsego County Court Judge Lambert, and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail without bail pending future court action.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Armed Robbery at the Kwik Fill Gas Station on State Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich. A white male, 6 feet tall dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark shoes, black and white gloves, and a white knit hat and or a white face mask, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot& was last seen entering the plaza located on the east side of state route 12. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 334-2000.

Former Sidney mayor Elwood “Dixie” Davis passed away Thursday, at the Veteran’s home in Oxford. Davis served on the Sidney village board from 1966 to 1979; he served as mayor from 1979 to 1999. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Home.

State police reported that a toddler who fell from a second-story window in Hancock September 17th, died over the weekend, 18 month old Andie Johnson died Saturday, the autopsy performed Sunday showed that the child died of cardiopulmonary arrest due to severe head trauma. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
