A.M. NEWS MONDAY 9-30-13

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested Jeremy Hazard of Smyrna on an active arrest warrant for Promoting Prison Contraband.   Hazard was found to be in possession of Marihuana while entering the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Hazard was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and held on $1,000.00 cash bail & will reappear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

4 candidates are running for 2 seats on the Sidney town board this year.  Retired Sidney village engineer John Woodyshek is running as a republican for one seat, he told WCDO News that the board has to play up the Town’s attributes & avoid controversy:

Woodyshek will participate in the town board debates Thursday evening at the Smart Community room at the Sidney Library.

Former white House & UN Adviser Eric Schwartz will give a presentation today at Binghamton University beginning at 7:00 PM in the Anderson Center. Schwartz is a BU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science, he has served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration and UN Deputy Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery.

Crews from the town of Unadilla have closed rod & gun club road today.  Crews are replacing a culvert, the road will re-open at 3:00 this afternoon, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes until that time.
