The third murder trial for Cal Harris has been delayed, and his scheduled start of October 7th  in Tioga County Court has been removed from the schedule.  Harris’s attorney has filed motions to move the trial out of Tioga county court, where Harris has been convicted twice for the murder of his wife Michelle in 2001.

Delaware county department of public works will be performing work on county route 14 from state route 357 for 2.6 miles to the hamlet of Treadwell, starting this morning.  Motorists are advised to expect delays or seek alternate route during the project, which is expected to be completed this Friday.

The State DEC will be holding Environmental Conservation Police Officer and Forest Ranger exams on November 16th.  Those interested in taking the exam have until October 2 to apply for the exam.  Those who want to apply for both positions, and meet the required qualifications, must submit separate applications and will be required to take both examinations. Information and application procedures can be found at: cs.ny.gov.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 25-year-old John Cornell of Endicott on an active arrest warrant issued by the Chenango County Family Court.  Cornell was arrested under Article 4 of the Family Court Act; he was transported to the Chenango County Jail to begin serving a 6-month sentence or pay a $3500 Purge.
