Norwich police arrested 47-year-old Jose Gonzalez of New Berlin Wednesday morning he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance & unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Norwich Police officers located a stolen vehicle from New Berlin, they located Gonzalez nearby, and he was found to be in possession of 45 envelopes of heroin & 10 Hydrocodone pills. Gonzalez was arraigned in Norwich City Court, Gonzalez is scheduled to reappear in Norwich City Court Tuesday for his felony hearing, Gonzalez will be held at the Chenango County Jail pending future court action.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced the arrest and indictment of New York State Assemblyman William Scarborough for allegedly stealing campaign funds and falsely collecting travel reimbursements. The 23-count state indictment accuses the Queens Assemblyman of withdrawing and diverting over $40,000 from the bank account of the “Friends of Bill Scarborough” campaign committee & using those funds for personal expenses. The 11-count federal indictment charges Scarborough with improperly claiming “per diem” expenses in excess of $40,000 for travel that didn’t take place. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 37 years in prison.
