Governor Cuomo detailed a series of measures that reduce the cost to employers under the State’s workers compensation system by 26%, saving businesses and local governments $300 million in annual expenses. The Business Relief Act cuts the assessment to employers from 18.8% to 13.8%, the largest reduction since 1998; it provides a one-time workers’ compensation assessment savings to all self-insured employers of about $500 million.

The Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce will host their Halloween Dance tonight at the Greene High School from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Those who attend and bring 2 canned goods for the Greene Food Pantry will have their admission reduced by $1.00. Greene district students are encouraged to try to break last years donated total of 220 food items collected last year.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the next 3 hour “Basic Pistol Safety Course” at the Sheriff’s Office on Saturday from 9:00AM to 12:00 noon.  Those who  wish to register for this free course must have a newly issued Chenango County Pistol Permit and must call 337-1854. today is the last day to register.
