The State Assembly passed a 2-year ban on hydrofracking by a vote of 103 to 40 yesterday.  The bill passed Wednesday has no companion legislation in the New York State Senate, making this bill unlikely to make it to the governor’s desk, the senate does have legislation calling for a ban only until the department of Health Review is completed.

The Broome County Sheriff’s department arrested 42-year-old Jeffrey Turner of Fenton for allegedly performing sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl and forced her to perform in pornographic photos.  Turner was indicted in US District court on federal court Wednesday on 8 counts of production of child pornography and one count of accessing with intent to view and possession of child pornography,

State Troopers arrested 32-year-old William Hunter of Ithaca for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on State Route 17 in Hancock; Hunter was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Hancock Court on March 25th.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 55-year-old Anthony Miller of Pharsalia for 3 counts of endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Miller is accused of committing an act that would be injurious to 3 children at his residence; he was arraigned in the Town of Plymouth court and is being held on $5,000 cash bail.  Miller is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pharsalia Court at a later date.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in Guilford Cafeteria to discuss district business. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM with committee meetings. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:30 PM.
