A.M. NEWS THURSDAY 7-2-15

State Police arrested 27 year old Jeffrey Demkovich of Endicott, for Kidnapping & 1st degree Rape & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing over 200 packets of heroin. Demkovich was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail set at this time. Also, during this investigation 24 year old Ryan Valcourt-Dean of Endicott was arrested for Forcible Touching. He was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Union Court and released. The investigation is ongoing.

State Police arrested 50 year old Richard Ward of Castle Creek, for felony DWI, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. This arrest occurred after Troopers responded to a Broome County 911 report of an intoxicated man threatening a woman with a shotgun while driving. Troopers stopped the vehicle, the DWI arrest was a felony due to a prior conviction for DWI within the last ten years. Ward cannot legally possess a firearm because of a prior felony conviction. Ward was arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County Jail with no bail set at this time.

Oneonta City Officials announced that the section of Maple Street between Walnut & Center Streets will be closed between 8:30 & Noon today for tree removal. The detour will be Elm Street, more information is available at 432-2100.
