Democratic and Sidney First Independent candidates for the upcoming town board election will hold a Meet & Greet night tonight be at the Sidney Memorial Public Library from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Current town board member Bill Heath is running for town supervisor, Pete Cordes is seeking re-election for his seat, and Paul Muratore is running for the other town council seat.

The state Health Department opened its hotline to help customers sign up for New York’s health-care exchange. The enrollment period runs from October 1st through March 31st.  The exchange will provide health insurance to at least 1 million uninsured New Yorkers as part of the federal Affordable Care Act. The program will provide tax credits for individuals with incomes under $45,960 and families of four with incomes less than $94,200. The phone number for the “NY State of Health” program is 1-855-355-5777; more information is available at nystateofhealth.ny.gov.

The Firemen’s Association of New York offer a program called “the Higher Education Learning Program” which provides tuition reimbursement to students who are volunteer firefighters and attending college for up to 80 credit hours. The deadline to apply for the fall semester is October 1st; information on the program and how to apply is available at fasny.com.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in the Guilford School Cafeteria at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:30 PM.
