New York’s minimum wage will increase by 75 cents Wednesday, to $8.75 an hour. The raise is part of a series of three annual changes that began last year, following passage by the state legislature.

27-year-old Duncan Kent of Vestal faces several charges for allegedly stealing items out of vehicles. Police said that Kent attempted to destroy evidence by eating it, he was charged with resisting arrest, petty larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, conspiracy, & tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned in the Town of Union Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

3 people have been arrested in Binghamton for a recent home invasion burglary. Charged were 25-year-old Christopher Peterson, 36-year-old Bryan Crowningshield and 37-year-old Ariana Edwards of Binghamton, after they allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s home Christmas Eve, and stole a large screen TV. A police K9 tracked down the suspects, they were charged with burglary and face court action shortly.

Embattled Congressman Michael Grimm has decided to resign his seat after he had pleaded guilty last week to one count of felony tax evasion. The resignation is effective January 5th, House Speaker John Boehner and House Republican leadership pushed Grimm to resign his seat after he pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion last week, Grimm made headlines earlier this year when he threatened to push a Time Warner Cable TV Reporter over a balcony in Albany when questioned about allegations of wrongdoing.
