State Police arrested 25 year old Michael Golotty of Norwich 1 count each of  3rd degree arson &  3rd degree burglary & 40 counts of 3rd degree Criminal Mischief.  Golotty is charged in connection with the fire at the Storage Center on County route 32 in the Town of Norwich on November 29th.  1 of the destroyed units contained about $8,000 worth of toys for the 2013 Chenango County Toys For Tots Campaign.  GOLOTTY was arraigned in the Norwich Town court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, pending future court action.

Governor Cuomo announced that the Federal Government has released additional HEAP funding, increasing New York’s total for this heating season to more than $366 million. The additional funding will enable New York to continue operating the regular benefit component of HEAP into this month.  Last Thursday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released an additional $50.6 million for New York.

The Oneonta Common Council will meet tonight to vote on motions pertaining to two laws proposed for real property tax exemptions, and to request home rule from the State Legislature so the city may provide certain exemptions.  The council will also consider a law to change the assessment review day in the city. The meeting begins at 7pm at city hall on Main street
