State Police released the name of the 2nd fatality in the 2-car motor vehicle accident on County Route 35 in the Town of Oxford early Sunday morning.  Police reported that 15-year-old Brandy Smith was the driver of the 2000 Ford Focus that crossed into the path of a Dodge Caravan operated by 48-year-old David Clark of Oxford.  Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, Clark later died at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.  7 others were taken to area hospitals for the treatment of a variety of injuries, the investigation is continuing.

Governor Cuomo announced the U.S. Small Business Administration has granted his request for a disaster declaration for Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery and Oneida Counties following the severe storms and flooding of late June. Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property. Contiguous counties to Herkimer, Montgomery, Madison, and Oneida are also eligible for the full SBA disaster loan program.

Former Binghamton Mets Jordany Valdespin & current B-Met Cesar Puello have accepted a 50-game ban for their connection to Biogenesis in Florida.  Both players’ suspensions were announced this afternoon from the office of Major Leaguer Baseball in New York City. The New York Mets released a statement: “We have and continue to support Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Testing program.”   Also accepting the 50 game suspension is New York Yankee Catcher Francisco Cervelli Yankee 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez is appealing his 211 game suspension, and played for the tanks in Chicago last night.
