Furloughed federal workers protested in front of the home offices of congressmen Richard Hanna and Chris Gibson yesterday.  Protestors blame both representatives of being part of the congressional shutdown that has cost them their paychecks until the government shutdown ends.

State Troopers arrested 48-year-old Craig Jones of Norwich for Driving While Intoxicated.  The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on State Route 8 in Guilford; Jones was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Guilford Court on October 22nd.

The Oneonta City Hall parking lot will be closed today to accommodate preparations for paving.  Visitors to city hall may use the Dietz street parking lot, the Westcott lot, the municipal parking garage or on street parking spaces.

The Otego town board will hold a special meeting tonight at 6pm at the Municipal building on state highway 7 in Otego.  The purpose of the meeting is to compile the tentative budget for 2014. The pubic is invited to attend

The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce will hold their next Business After Hours event today.  The event will be held at the Bainbridge House Bed & Breakfast ion Chenango County Route 39, between 6:00 & 8:00 PM.

Commerce Chenango will co-host a “Meet the Candidates” Business After Hours event this evening, at the Sidney Federal Credit Union Norwich branch.  The event will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 PM, more information is available at 334-1402.
