The Chenango county sheriff’s office arrested 24 year old Adam Holt on charges of 4th degree Grand Larceny, Obstructing Governmental Administration, 2nd degree Harassment, DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle.  Holt was charged following an accident in which Holt is accused of driving a stolen car from the town of Columbus, into a ditch while intoxicated.  Holt had called for a tow after the accident, he is accused of fighting, kicking and spitting on the responding deputies, and he was arraigned in the Town of New Berlin Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000.00 bail.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation to cap agricultural land assessments at 2% per year, ensuring a more predictable tax climate for New York’s farms. Currently, 25% of New York’s land is in agriculture. High property taxes on agricultural lands put New York at a competitive disadvantage with other states.

This Saturday is the National Take Back Collection for prescription drugs throughout the country.  The events will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with DEA officials taking the unwanted collected prescriptions with them at the conclusion of the collections.  Locally, collections will be at the Norwich City Police Department at 18 East Main Street, at the SUNY Oneonta Police Department at 1 Alumni Hall & with the Oneonta City Police department at 79 Main Street.
