State Police reported a multiple vehicle crash on State Route 17 east at exit 90 near East Branch last night.  Eastbound lanes were closed at the exit and traffic was detoured, all lanes have been re-opened.   State Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased.

Governor Cuomo today announced that State Police will initiate special traffic enforcement efforts today & through the thanksgiving weekend.  The State Police will focus on aggressive driving, impaired driving, and distracted driving. The effort will also incorporate fixed sobriety checkpoints and the “Operation Hang Up” initiative, which utilizes Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement patrol vehicles to locate drivers talking or texting on cellular telephones.

Governor Cuomo announced that New York State is partnering with Walmart, PepsiCo and Fresh Direct this Thanksgiving Week to help deliver more than 3,000 meals to families in need.  Walmart will provide the meals; PepsiCo will be donating 2,800 beverages, and Fresh Direct will provide 3,000 boxes to help with the transport and delivery of goods. The meals will be assembled and distributed by members of the New York National Guard this week. In addition, Walmart will donate more than $1 million to food banks and local charities across the state.  Wal-Mart’s donations for hunger relief in New York will go to the Associated Catholic Charities Broome County, in the amount of $75,000.
