A.M. NEWS WEDNESDAY 3-6-13

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 47-year-old Rafael Macken of Walton following a 1-car accident on County Highway 14 in the Town of Franklin.  Macken was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, 2nd & 3rd Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and Failure to Keep Right.  Deputies recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun, a silencer, a switchblade and metal knuckle knives, a number of controlled substances and marihuana, Macken was arraigned in the Town of Franklin Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 bail bond.

THE STATE ASSEMBLY PASSED A MINUMIM WAGE ACT AGAIN THIS YEAR calling for a minimum wage of $9 an hour.  Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver comments:

The bill has passed the assembly many times over the years but has always failed to gain sufficient support in the senate.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27-year-old Lewis Ostrander of Hancock, as a Fugitive from Justice Warrant from Honesdale Pennsylvania on a Forgery charge. Ostrander was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail to await extradition back to Pennsylvania.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Stephanie Worthington of Delhi for 3rd degree Grand Larceny.    Worthington was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. Felony hearing is scheduled for March 11th.
