Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the burglary of a residence and garage located on Basin Clove Road in the Town of Hamden that occurred between approximately May 1st and July 11th. Stolen from the residence and garage were shotguns, various lawn & garden equipment, a woodstove, a flat screen television and several hand tools. Deputies are asking anyone that may have information about this burglary, or the possible location of the stolen property, to contact them at 746-2336, Extension 381.

Governor Cuomo is calling for stronger Health Department regulations to combat the sale of synthetic marijuana in New York State, following a dramatic increase in hospital visits and poison control center calls. The sale and possession of dozens of types of synthetic marijuana and bath salts were banned by the Department of Health at the urging of Governor Cuomo in August 2012. These new regulations will expand the existing list of banned substances to include new chemical compounds that drug producers have begun to make since 2012. Residents who are aware of locations where these products are being manufactured, sold, or distributed, please call the Synthetic Drug Hotline at 1-888-99-SALTS.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection will conduct a meeting Saturday, about water diversions and releases from the Cannonsville Reservoir. The meeting will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Hancock Central School, a DEP representative will provide information about the repairs and the status of the reservoir. The meeting is open to the public.

The Sidney Emergency Squad has undergone a reorganization recently; The Open House will be held tomorrow from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the River Street Fire Station.

Bainbridge village officials stated that the water main break has been repaired. Residents may notice brown water for a short period of time, which should clear up after running the tap for a short time.

The Oneonta Department of Public Service will be replacing a broken water valve Monday at the intersection to Ravine parkway & Ravine Park North. Resident in that area will experience a temporary water outage, when service is restores, the water may be cloudy, and the water should clear up in a short time if the water is allowed to run. Commerce Chenango will host a Natural Gas Update on Tuesday July 21st, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at 15 South Broad Street, Norwich.   The State DEC & Governor Cuomo have banned High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing, the discussion will focus on where natural gas development stands in New York, will there be lawsuits, what will the industry do & related businesses do?   RSVP’s are requested today at 334-1402.
