Federal officials are continuing the investigation New York state Senate leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam as part of a federal probe into corruption among state leaders. The current investigation follows the arrest of Skelos’s former Assembly counterpart Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges, as well as charges filed over the last few years against deputy Senate leader Tom Libous of Binghamton, and former state senate leaders Joe Bruno, Pedro Espada and Hiram Monseratte. No charges have yet been filed against Dean or Adam Skelos.

A Chenango County Grand Jury indicted 27-year-old Jason Sigler & 50 year old Patricia Manwarren of Norwich for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. The 2 were arrested in February by The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & Norwich Police after they executed a “no knock” search warrant at 12 Mechanic Street in Norwich. The Sheriff’s Office recovered cocaine, prescription pills, marihuana, digital scales, and Baggies during that search.

The Village of Sidney will hold their 23rd annual Sidney Arbor Day program on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 AM at Bill Ray field, behind the Moose Lodge off East Main Street. This year’s Arbor Day award will be in memory of Bill Ray; a Crimson King will be planted at the Bill Ray field in memory of Bill’s years of service and dedication to the Sidney Recreation Commission and the community.

Governor Cuomo today announced the craft beer industry in New York State grew 59% from 2013 to 2014, with a total economic impact estimated at $3.5 billion. The number of craft breweries has more than doubled from 2012 to 2015, from 95 breweries in 2012 and 207 in January 2015. Craft beer production is up 54% from 2011 to 2013, Tourists visits support more than 3,000 jobs that pay more than $77 million in annual wages and generate more than $450 million in revenue.

Congressman Chris Gibson announced the introduction of the Family Farm Relief Act of 2015, to move the H-2A Agricultural Visa program from the Department of Labor to the Department of Agriculture, to meet the unique labor needs of farmers. The Act Allows visa applicants to fill out H-2A applications and allows farm cooperatives and other agricultural associations to apply for workers for their members, & makes the program more workable for dairy and other livestock operations, it also requires reporting to Congress if delays occur in the H-2A Visa application process.
