State Police arrested 31-year-old Zachary Boynton of Oneonta for Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable BAC result of .25%. The arrest followed a 2-car accident in the parking lot of Southside Oneonta McDonald’s.   Boynton was intoxicated when he drove his car into the back of another car ahead of his at the drive thru.  He was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court on March 25th; he was and turned over to a sober third party.  State Police returned to McDonald’s following a report of a car striking the building and then leaving the scene.  State Police located Boynton’s newly damaged car outside of his residence on Southside Drive, he was arrested a 2nd time for Driving While Intoxicated & was taken to Fox Hospital in Oneonta for injuries he sustained in the accident.   Boynton was then arraigned at the Town of Oneonta Court and released to a sober third party without bail required.

State Troopers arrested 31-year-old Allen Wall of Oxford for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Wall was stopped by troopers on State Route 13 in Oxford; police discovered oxycodone, oxycontin pills and a small amount of marihuana in the vehicle.   Wall resisted arrest; he was arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,000 cash bail.

The Delaware County Local Development Corporation will accept applications under the County’s 2011 Flood Relief grant program until April 25th. The program was recently revised; it was expanded in an effort to create an incentive for new small businesses to locate into a flood-impacted main street commercial space, in addition to assisting businesses directly impacted by the floods of 2011.  Applications can be requested by contacting Lori Paulson with Delaware County Economic Development at 746-8595, more information is available at dcecodev.com.

Unatego graduate Jessica Welch of Unadilla, has self-published her first book, 1 year after graduating from College.  Welch told WCDO News about her first book:

Welch said that her book is available; through Amazon.com for Kindle Readers or hard copy, copies of the book are also available at the Green Toad in Oneonta.  Welch will leave next week for Japan, where she will teach English to Japanese students.

The Common Core Implementation Panel formed by Governor Cuomo unveiled a series of recommendations to immediately improve the implementation of Common Core in New York State.  The Panel recommends the banning of standardized “Bubble Tests” for younger grades, protect students from High Stakes tests affecting their promotion & permanent records, And to make sure that more classroom time is used for instruction, and not over-testing.  Details of the recommendations are available at governor.ny.gov.

The village of Unadilla zoning board will hold a special meeting tonight at 6pm at the Community House library at 193 Main Street.  The purpose of the meeting is to review and make recommendations to the planning board on use variances received for properties at 19 Teller Street and 258 Main Street.  The public is welcome

Chenango County Farm Bureau will be excepting a Proclamation Recognizing March 20th as the Official Chenango County Agriculture Day at the county board of Supervisors meeting.   Agriculture is the # 1 industry in Chenango County & in New York state with Each American farmer feeding more than 144 people, more than 5 times the amount in the 1960s.
