The State Assembly Democratic Majority introduced their version of the state budget proposal in Albany Tuesday. New Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie comments:

The Assembly budget is over 150 billion dollars, almost 8 billion dollars more than the Governor’s executive budget proposal released in January.

Governor Cuomo is calling on state lawmakers to change the age on penalties for juveniles who could be placed into adult prison situations, with the “Raise the Age” campaign. The Governor’s proposal includes raising the age of criminal responsibility to ensure that 16- and 17-year old youth who are convicted of non-violent offenses are not incarcerated with the adult prison population. The Delaware County Department of Public Works announced several limited road closures over the next 2 weeks. County routes 7, 10, 16, 20, 23, 26, 35, & 67 will be closed to any vehicle with a gross weight in excess of 4 tons on any one axle, more information is available at 746-2128.

The New York State Park Police are accepting applications for seasonal Park and Recreation Forest Ranger and Park and Recreation Public Safety Ranger positions, which provide public safety and security services within the state park system. Information on how to apply is available at nysparks.com; or at (518) 474-4029. Public Safety Rangers must complete 80 hours of prescribed training including 24 hours of Security Guard training and provide general security services in support of the State Park Police. The positions are seasonal in nature, generally from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
