Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 24 year old Nathaniel Rowe of Coventry for 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 3rd degree Burglary, Grand Larceny & Petty Larceny. Rowe is accused of illegally entering a garage & stealing a vehicle & Several Firearms. Deputies located the stolen vehicle at a residence, just a few miles away from crime scene, Rowe was inside the residence with the stolen firearms. Rowe was on parole at the time of his arrest, he was processed and was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on his Warrant, he was ordered to appear in Town of Smithville court at a later date.

Justice Robert Putorti of the Village of Whitehall Court faces action in the state Court of Appeals, after he allegedly pulled a gun on a defendant in his court room. Putorti has been the Whitehall judge since 2014, he claimed that he acted in Self defense when defendant Brandon Wood appeared to rush the judge”s stand in 2015. The state Commission on Judicial Conduct became aware of the incident & conducted an investigation, it recommended Putorti’s removal from judicial office, Putorti challenged the recommendation before the Court of Appeals, he has been suspended from duty with pay while waiting for his day in court. Wood claimed that he was chained to a bench in a hallway & could not rush the judge, he also claimed that Putorti flashed a gun under his robe.

Acting New York State Police Superintendent Steven Nigrelli has announced he’s stepping down from office. Nigrelli was no longer under consideration for the permanent role, he plans to retire effective October 6th. A report from the Albany Times Union stated that Nigrelli was investigated for alleged harassment and discrimination complaints, he has served in law enforcement for 32 years.

22 year old Jacoyia Byrne of New York, was sentenced to a 3 year term of probation supervision for the crime of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. . Byrne was arrested May 5th for selling amphetamine to undercover officers with the Delhi Police Department. The Department of Probation recommended Byrne receive a period of probation supervision as punishment, Judge Burkert accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Byrne.

Jury Deliberations began yesterday & Continued today in the trial of Nauman Hussain in Schoharie County Supreme Court, this afternoon he was convicted of manslaughter in the Schoharie limo case that killed 20 in October 2018. Hussain was the owner of the Prestige Limousine, one of their vehicle crashed in Schoharie, killing 18 in the limo & 2 at a gas station that the vehicle crashed through when the brakes failed. Sentencing will be held at a later date.

Acting State Police Superintendent Steven Nigrelli commended and recognized 30 individuals for bravery & exceptional contributions in this year’s State Police Annual Awards Ceremony. Senior Investigator Jennifer Hahl & Senior Investigator Steven Hahl, both of Troop C, were sited for saving a disoriented elderly man from certain death due to exposure, they were on their way home when they observed a pair of discarded boots alongside a rural roadway, they entered a wooded area & discovered an elderly male lying on the ground soaking wet and hypothermic. Also, Trooper Timothy Murray & Trooper James Wamsley Jr. both of Troop C were awarded, Trooper Murray observed a crashed garbage truck, and he located an adult male pinned under the truck’s rear wheels. He radioed for help, Trooper Wamsley arrived on scene, and both Troopers shoveled to free the trapped victim.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50 year old Hasan Taylor of Oneonta, following an investigation of narcotics within the Correctional Facility. Taylor is accused of concealing narcotics with the intent to sell, after being admitted to the Correctional facility on separate charges, he was released, however investigators received a report from the State Police indicating that the substance seized from Taylor was Fentanyl, an arrest warrant was issued by the Town of Middlefield Court. Taylor was located by the Oneonta Police & was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Promoting Prison Contraband & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for court action.

There has been a lot of confusion regarding New York State’s rules on the gas stove to electric stove change over, and the expected timeline, Local Assemblyman Joe Angelino said that right now, the proposal has almost no effect on the region:

Assemblyman Angelino said that there may be some changes addressing mandates that school busses change over to electric battery power in the near future, but the manufacturing of the busses and the access to charging points will not ready in time for the mandate’s expected start date.

Over 300 members of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers local 1529 voted to approve a new 3 year Contract from Amphenol of Sidney this afternoon. Governor Kathy Hochul joined Acting Superintendent Steven Nigrelli in honoring 218 new New York State Troopers as they graduated today from the 211th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Today’s graduation increases the State Police ranks to 4,742 sworn members. 29 of the new Troopers will report to Troop C in Sidney.

Delaware County Deputies were dispatched On April 29th to a report of a burglary at Herman’s Trailer Sales in the Town of Walton, followed by additional reports of larceny and burglary from the same location, The Investigation revealed that rare antiques and jewelry stolen from the Herman’s property were sold for cash at a pawn Shop in Utica. Items were recovered from Utica, Sidney Walton, Unadilla & South New Berlin, Deputies arrested 39-year old Francis Lupo of Walton & 44-year-old Luke Lupo, of South New Berlin Petty Larceny, criminal mischief & Burglary Charges, and 33-year-old Mistyblue Decker of Hancock for criminal mischief and petty larceny. All 3 were released & will appear in Walton Court at a later date.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 48 year old Wayne Brostek of Schenevus following a traffic stop in the Town of Milford on October 5th. Brostek was charged with Operate out of interlock restriction, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Operating Without Insurance among several other similar charges, Brostek was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Milford Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s office arrested 23 year old Anna Genao of Franklin for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator charges as well as other violations following an investigation of a motor vehicle accident involving property damage and personal injury in Davenport on October 13th. Genao & other occupants were transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, after an investigation, Deputies arrested Genao, she was processed and released, & will appear in Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

State Attorney General Letitia James released a report on the role of online platforms like 4chan & Twitch in the Buffalo mass shooting at a Tops grocery store where 10 Black individuals were killed and 3 others were injured. James’ Office reviewed thousands of pages of documents and social media content to examine how the alleged shooter Payton Gendron of Conklin used online platforms to plan, prepare, and publicize his attack. The report also said that the platforms lacked of oversight, transparency, and accountability in allowing hateful and extremist views to proliferate, leading to radicalization and violence. Gendron faces numerous state & federal charges in connection with the shooting, and could face the death penalty if convicted on the federal charges.
