Troopers will have extra patrols on the roads monitoring traffic and will be conducting DWI sobriety checkpoints. In addition to the DWI checkpoints and patrols, Troopers will also be watching for distracted or impaired drivers, vehicle occupants who are not properly buckled up, and drivers that are violating the Move Over Law. During the campaign, Troopers will be using both marked State Police vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement vehicles, which will allow Troopers to blend in with every day traffic.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old James Carey Jr. of Oneonta for disseminating indecent material to minors and endangering the welfare of a child. Carey is accused sending and receiving nude photographs” between himself and a 12-year-old girl, he was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in Town of Otsego Court on November 28.

Governor Cuomo today announced $22.9 million in grants to support 11 critical municipal water infrastructure projects in the Southern Tier. This funding represents $46.6 million in taxpayer savings and supports the creation of more than 3,200 jobs. These grants are funded through the state’s highly successful Water Infrastructure Improvement Act program. The Village of Hancock will get a grant for 2.4 Million dollars toward their $4 Million dollar drinking water project.

2 people were arrested after an alleged domestic dispute last month where a shotgun was displayed. Troopers responded to a residence on Hotchkiss Hill Road in Greene where 32 year old Brian Brick of Greene allegedly waved a shotgun during a dispute, he left in a truck with 37 year old Michael Halstead of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Halstead is accused of accepting the shotgun from Brick; he cannot legally possess weapons as a convicted felon. Halstead was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon; he was arraigned in the village of Greene Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. Brick turned himself in to State Police last week, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Menacing, and he was arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $15,000 bail bond.

State Police arrested 34 year old Donald Shurock of Oxford for Resisting Arrest and 2 counts of Criminal Mischief, Troopers were dispatched to a domestic dispute on Lucas Lane in the town of Oxford, where Shurock damaged property and also took the victim’s phone while the victim attempted to call for help the previous day. After an investigation, Shurock Jr. was arrested. He was arraigned in the town of Oxford Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. An order of protection was issued by the judge.

State Police arrested 53 year old Michael Kane of Bainbridge for DWI, after a trooper monitoring traffic on State Highway 7 in the town of Unadilla observed the vehicle that Kane was operating to have an equipment violation. After a traffic stop was initiated, Kane was arrested and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Unadilla Court on November 19th.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies’ responded to a physical domestic dispute on Dry Brook Rd in the Town of Tompkins in August, upon completion of the investigation 65 year old Gerald Brundege of Tompkins was arrested for Harassment, 53 year old Mary Brundege of North Branch, NY was arrested for Harassment, she was released on a Criminal Summons. 64 year old Erpherd Brundege was arrested on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Town of Tompkins Court for Harassment, Reckless Endangerment & Assault; he was arraigned in the Village of Walton Court and released on his own recognizances. All parties are to appear in the Town of Tompkins Court at a later date to answer the said charges.

State Police arrested 43 year old Arzou Hami of Coventry for Menacing a Police Officer, Menacing, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. A trooper was dispatched to a residence on State Route 235 in the town of Coventry that Hami was allegedly breaking property, allegedly threatened the victim with a Barbecue skewer. When the trooper entered the residence, Hami was sitting on the floor; she displayed a knife and threatened the trooper several times. Hami was tased and was taken into custody. She was arraigned in the town of Afton Court where she was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. She will return to Afton Court on November 14th.

The State Department of Health announced that it has issued the 2nd 2-year report on the Medical Use of Marijuana Under the Compassionate Care Act. The report recommends changes to increase patient access, which includes allowing practitioners to certify patients who previously did not qualify for medical marijuana; permitting all practitioners who can prescribe controlled substances to people to become registered providers; and initiating a pilot study to assess the cost-benefits of health insurance coverage. WCDO NEWS FRIDAY 10-12-18 http://www.wcdoonline.com/localnews/wcdo-news-friday-10-12-18/ Fri, 12 Oct 2018 18:31:04 +0000 http://www.wcdoonline.com/localnews/?p=6548 Continue reading ]]> A Delaware County Grand Jury handed down several Sealed Indictments Thursday relating to 3 separate narcotics trafficking investigations conducted in the Sidney and Hancock areas by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.   Arrested were 36 year old Angela Huggins of Sidney, 36 year old Mark Tubbs of Sidney & 30 year old Lisa Hayslip of Oneonta for selling illegal drugs in Sidney.  4 people from Fish’s Eddy were charged, 23 year old Samantha Wren, 33 year old William Weyrauch, 29 year old Seth Appley & 29 year old Lacey Benson for allegedly selling a variety of illegal drugs in Fishes Eddy, Benson faces an additional charge of Promoting Prison Contraband, for allegedly introducing secreted hypodermic instruments into the Delaware County Correctional Facility following her arrest.  All were arraigned and were remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail pending further court action.

State Police at Norwich are looking for the public’s help in locating a 43-year-old woman from Greene who is in need of medication. Arzou Hami was last seen on Sunday, October 7th exiting a vehicle near State Highway 369 in Port Crane. Hami has also identified herself as Michelle Girard. She was last seen wearing white capris, slip-on shoes, a dark shirt and carrying two suitcases, she is white, approximately 5’7, 165 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at 561-7400.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and the City of Norwich Police Department conducted a traffic stop on 29 year old Logan Dalrymple of Sherburne, whose vehicle and person were subject to a search warrant. Officers seized methamphetamine packaged for sale and Suboxone strips. Dalrymple was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a controlled substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Promoting Prison Contraband, she was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

This funding enables local governments to expand their emergency response capabilities to enhance public safety operations. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 22-year-old Dane Edwards of Deposit on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Village of Deposit Court for 3rd degree Assault, involving an incident earlier this year in Deposit. Edwards was arraigned and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear at the Village of Deposit Court at a later date to answer the charges.
