The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that the Baseball Writers of America have selected Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton and Joe Mauer for election into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. All 3 will be inducted, along with former manager Jim Leyland during Induction Weekend 2024 July 19-22 in Cooperstown, N.Y., at the grounds of the Clark Sports Center.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40 year old Joshua Whaley of Pitcher for Criminal possession of a Controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia & criminal possession of stolen property. Members of State Parole searched Whaley’s property and located a shotgun, and a case containing fifty wax envelopes of Fentanyl and packaging material, a pick up truck with an altered vehicle identification number, which was reported stolen out of New Hartford, Whaley was processed and was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on his Warrant. Whaley is to appear in the Town of Pitcher Court at a later date.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced support for bipartisan legislation to help expand the mental health workforce in underserved communities. The Mental Health Professionals Workforce Shortage Loan Repayment Act would incentivize mental health professionals to practice in underserved areas by offering them student loan forgiveness up to $250,000. 55 Out Of New York’s 62 Counties, Don’t Have Enough Psychiatrists, Psychologists, or Social Workers to address the growing mental health crisis in New York State.

Former Teacher Benjamin Moyse of Delhi, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Official Misconduct by a Public Servant, in Delaware County Court. A Delaware County Grand Jury returned an 11 count indictment last year against Moyse, where he was accused of intentionally aided a person under 16 years of age, to possessing and disseminating child pornography, and that he failed to follow Delaware Academy’s policy and procedures when students and parents reported that students were being sexually abused. Moyse was sentenced to a conditional discharge of 1 year for each count. Separate proceedings by the State Department of Education, Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability are pending, his teaching license is being revoked in New York State.

Attorney General Letitia James announced today that a federal appeals court has upheld a court order that New York, the Federal Trade Commission and 6 other states won against convicted criminal Martin Shkreli for engaging in illegal and monopolistic behavior as the CEO of Vyera Pharmaceuticals. The Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed the January 2022 decision of the District Court for the Southern District of New York, which found that Shkreli violated both federal and state laws by engaging in an illegal scheme to maintain a monopoly over a lifesaving drug, Daraprim, after increasing its price by over 4,000%, Shkreli is banned for life from the pharmaceutical industry and ordered to pay $64.6 million.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 20-year-old Rebecca Stickle of Livingston Manor for an alleged Assault on January 3rd, in the Town of Walton. Stickle is accused of making threats to a female victim that she would hit her with her vehicle. Stickle then attempted to leave the scene, and subsequently struck the female victim, causing physical injury. On January 13th, Deputies, assisted by State Police located and arrested Stickle at her residence she was charged with 2nd degree Assault & was held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility to arraignment.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56 year old Joan Ramirez of Sidney for Endangering the Welfare of a vulnerable elderly person and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person. Deputies received a complaint regarding a Springbrook direct support professional injuring an elderly female, Ramirez is accused of injuring an 84-year-old disabled female while recklessly acting in the course of her duties. Ramirez was subsequently released on appearance tickets and directed to appear at the Town of Sidney court at a later date to answer for the charges. The investigation is still ongoing with the Department of Justice and may result in additional

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will bring back their Leaderful Delaware classes & they are currently seeking people committed to community service who would benefit from strengthening leadership skills, Chamber President Ray Pucci explains:

Delaware County Sheriff Deputy’s responded to a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle located at the intersection of Scotch Mountain Road & Arbuckle Hollow Road, in the Town of Delhi. Deputies observed 78-year-old Dante Musci of Delancey lying in the back seat of the vehicle, he had traveled along Arbuckle Hollow Road and was involved in a property damage auto accident and had left the scene. Musci was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, Operating a Motor Vehicle while impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated, he was released and will appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

Congressman Marc Molinaro announced over $27 million in federal funding for community development projects in New York’s 19th Congressional District. The City of Norwich will receive over 1.2 Million Dollars for Sanitary Sewer System Repairs& the Town of Oneonta will receive $4.2 Million Dollars for installation of 7,000 linear feet of sewer and water lines and associated laterals, meters, and hookups.

A Delaware County Grand Jury indicted Benjamin Moyse of Delhi on 11 charges. Count 1 alleged that, while a 10th grade teacher at Delaware Academy, Moyse intentionally aided a person under 16 years of age to commit the felony crimes of possessing and disseminating child pornography. The Grand Jury also charged Moyse with 5 separate counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for knowingly engaged in a course of conduct likely to be injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of 5 separate children at Delaware Academy. Moyse was also charged with 2 counts of Official Misconduct, for failing to follow the school’s policy and procedures when students and parents repeatedly reported to him that students were being sexually abused & for failing to report child abuse or maltreatment by his students and his students’ parents.

U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Amphenol has agreed to pay the United States $18 million dollars to resolve allegations for violating the False Claims Act. Amphenol admitted to filing false claims for electrical connectors to the U.S. government, that failed to fully comply with government regulations and contract specifications as well as the failure to meet required testing standards and other manufacturing and program requirements, between 2012 and 2017.

State Police arrested 65 year old Kenneth Powers & 28 year old Chelsea Gouse of Bedford Pennsylvania, for 22 counts of Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals & failure to provide proper sustenance. Troopers went to an apartment in Richfield Springs on another matter on July 19th, and discovered 22 animals inside living in crowded and filthy conditions. 10 dogs, 10 cats & 2 rabbits were removed & surrendered to the Susquehanna SPCA and were treated for various medical conditions, Powers and Gouse were processed and were issued appearance tickets to Richfield Springs Village Court on August 15th.
