Tomorrow is Election day, New Yorkers Statewide will be voting candidates to send to Washington, in the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Charles Schumer, he faces competition from Republican Joe Pinion & 3rd party candidate Diane Sare. Locally, voters in the 19th Congressional District will be choosing between a Republican Mark Molinaro of Duchess County, and Democrat Josh Riley of Tompkins county. New York Voters are also going to be deciding on candidates to send to Albany tomorrow, for Governor, incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul faces Republican Lee Zeldin; for Attorney General incumbent Democrat Letitia James seeks re-election against Republican Michael Henry & for State Comptroller, incumbent Democrat Tom DiNapoli faces a challenge from Republican Paul Rodriguez.

In Delaware County, there is an election for County Judge between current District Attorney John Hubbard on the Republican line & for the Democrats, Andrew Van Buren. Hubbard told WCDO News that one of the changes he would like to enact, if elected, would be better communication between the County & Local Courts:

Voters in the town of Sidney will fill a seat on the town board, between Republican Paul Muratore & Democrat Kevin Greene. Muratore told WCDO News that he has been serving on the board & feels like he accomplished a lot in a short time:

In 51st State Senate District, Incumbent Peter Oberacker faces Democratic Challenger Eric Ball. In State Assembly District 121, incumbent Republican Joe Angelino is unopposed. The new 101st District covers Otego, Laurens, Morris, & Franklin locally, the candidates are Democrat Matthew Mackey & Republican Brian Maher, in the new 122nd District, covering Oneonta, Milford, Hartwick, Burlington, & New Lisbon locally, Democrat Dan Butterman, Republican Brian Miller & Working Families Party candidate Colton Mennig are running for the seat.

43 year old Ray Hyer of Unadilla was arrested in Ohio after he failed to appear in n Otsego County court earlier this year for sentencing on a criminal sexual act charge. Hyer was located in Sandusky, Ohio on October 21st, he was arrested and was extradited back to the Otsego County Jail, he faces additional charges on top of the original criminal sexual act conviction.

Broome County officials are investigating the death of an inmate in the Broome County Jail on Friday. 30 year-old Mitchell Lindow of Binghamton was being held on a murder charge when he was found deceased by Corrections officers conducting a head count, an autopsy was conducted Friday, no cause of death was determined.

State Police announced that 9 people were arrested & drugs were seized after search warrants were executed at Budget Inn Motel on Route 23 Southside in the town of Oneonta Thursday & Friday. Items seized included methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, ecstasy, Suboxone strips & Packaging materials and scales, The investigation is on-going.

State Police issued 11,601 tickets and arrested 189 people for impaired driving during the special traffic enforcement detail over Halloween weekend. The initiative targeted speeding and impaired drivers, began on Friday, October 28, and continued through Tuesday, November 1.

the Internal Revenue Service reports that some New Yorkers may be getting a 2nd stimulus check from the IRS. More than 9 million people may qualify to receive stimulus payments and tax credits, these are people who did not file a tax return because their income was too low. the deadline to file for the additional stimulus money is November 17th.

Among the items donated, the Bat used by Yordan Álvarez in Game 6 when he hit a go-ahead 3-run home run, a Jersey worn in Game 2 and wristbands worn in Game 6 by Astros manager Dusty Baker, a Ball thrown by Cristian Javier in Game 4 and signed by all 4 pitchers who combined on just the second World Series no-hitter.

Commesso allegedly drove recklessly by another vehicle that was occupied by his ex-girlfriend, their young child and others, he swerved in front of the victim’s vehicle, and the behavior violated a court order of protection. Commesso was arraigned in the Town of Fenton Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond, pending future court action.

New York state’s Medicaid system made approximately $6.8 million in inappropriate payments, including $3.5 million for separately billed medical services that should have been covered by managed care plans, according to an audit released by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Additionally, auditors identified 15 Medicaid providers who were charged with or found guilty of crimes that violated the laws or regulations of a health care program. A New York state environmental conservation officer was hospitalized after being shot while investigating illegal hunting in Columbia County. State police say 2 En-Con officers were checking out reports of trespassing with shots fired Tuesday afternoon; Officer James Davey was shot in the pelvic area by 54-year-old Alan Blanchard of Gallatin. Davey underwent surgery at MidHudson Regional Hospital and is listed in stable condition. Blanchard was charged Tuesday night with assault. He was being held Wednesday in county jail without bail.

The Otsego County Sheriffs department arrested 59-year-old Rhonda Wing of Morris for DWI Saturday after she crashed her car in the Town of Pittsfield. Wing was arraigned at the Pittsfield Town Court and is expected to reappear December 21st.

The State Assembly held a public hearing in Albany today regarding the rapid increase in student debt by college graduates. Statistics compiled by the state comptroller’s office shows that student loan debt has doubled in the last decade. Last year, New York residents had an average of $32,200 in student debt, which is well above the national average of about $25,500.

Delaware County Deputies arrested 46-year-old Ronald Walley of Walton, for DWI, failure to keep right and speed unreasonable and prudent, following a 1-car rollover accident on County Highway 23 in the Town of Walton. Walley was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Walton Court on December 28th.

The State DOT announced that bridge work on State Route 30/206 northbound and southbound over the East Branch of the Delaware River in the town Colchester will require intermittent road closures in both directions starting today through December 2 from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM each day. Crews will be setting bridge girders for the new bridge. Motorists will encounter traffic stoppages intermittently for 10 – 15 minutes several times during the work hours daily. Motorists are advised to be alert for slow moving traffic and sudden stops.

Cormier said that the theater will be used for as part of the Oneonta first night celebration new year’s eve, and an announcement will be made regarding the future operation of the theater at that time.

A new Quinnipiac poll released today shows that Governor Cuomo has a 74% approval rating of New York voters.  Cuomo received an 82% favorable rating from Democrats and 68% from Republicans, only 13% disapproved.  The polls were also favorable to US Senators Charles Schumer & Kirsten Gillibrand and President Obama, each receiving approvals from 2/3rds of those polled.

The state DEC will begin taking public comments today on their revised gas-drilling rules, even though the rules were not released by the November 29th deadline.  Public comments will be taken on the DEC website for 30 days, ending on January 11th. There are no plans for a public hearing.  The state has had a moratorium on shale gas development since 2008.

State Troopers in Oneonta arrested 17-year-old Charlmesha Graham of Albany, 18-year-old Mandisha Kelderhouse of Kingston, 18-year-old Cathie Labonte of Central Islip and 23-year-old Lavanessa Louis of Brooklyn for 2nd degree Harassment.  The arrests were the results of an altercation at Oneonta Job Core All were arraigned in the Town of Oneonta Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $150 cash bail.

There will be no moratorium on hydro-fracking in the village of Oxford, as the Village Board tabled the proposal during a special session this week.  The village board faced a potential lawsuit from the Central New York Landowner’s Coalition, which is a local group of landowners seeking to sign gas leases with energy companies when the state DEC lifts the moratorium on gas drilling.

The Broome county sheriff’s department responded to a residence in the Town of Chenango, following the report of someone being forcefully held against their will.  The investigation revealed that a male subject was locked in his bedroom by his roommate and had also been struck in the face.   The victim escaped & called for police assistance, Deputies arrested 33-year-old Larry Daniel of Binghamton on charges of 2nd degree unlawful imprisonments the 2nd degree harassment.   Daniel was arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court and remanded to the Broome County jail on $500 bail pending future court action.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced new regulations requiring nonprofit groups registered with the state, to report the percentage of their expenditures that go to federal, state and local electioneering. Those groups that spend at least $10,000 to influence state and local elections will be required to file itemized schedules of expenses and contributions & those disclosures will be released to the public.  Copies of today’s proposed regulations are available online at: www.ag.ny.gov/charity-disclosure-regulations.

State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Kami Luce of Kirkwood and 18-year-old Travis Mills of Port Crane for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Tow Path Road in Fenton, Luce and Mills were both issued Appearance Tickets returnable to the Town of Fenton Court to appear on January 3rd.
