The attempted Murder trial of 35-year-old Wayne Spratley of Greene will begin in January. Spratley is accused of shooting a man in the parking lot on Lackawanna Avenue in Norwich in July 2015, following a racial outburst against the victim.

Otsego County will hold their annual Tax foreclosure Auction Wednesday morning at the Oneonta Holiday Inn. 72 properties will be auctioned off starting at 11:00, those interested in bidding need to register, beginning at 9:00 AM. The list of available properties is located at nysauctions.com.

Approximately 150 rallied at Muller Plaza in Downtown Oneonta Monday night, in response the Charlottesville Virginia violence over the weekend. Representatives from the NAACP & area churches spoke to the group at last night’s anti-racism rally.

Michele Frazier is expected to be appointed by Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig at tonight’s Common Council Meeting. Frazier will finish up the term of former Alderman Paul Van Der Sommen, who resigned last month upon moving to the state of Florida. The Common Council Meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall beginning at 7:00 PM.
Governor Cuomo signed into law Monday, a measure that increases the minimum penalty against those who make bomb threats against community centers. The governor sited the events in Charlottesville Virginia, and a bomb threat against a Buffalo area Jewish Center in February as 2 reasons in favor of the new law, which lets prosecutors send those convicted of making bomb threats against community centers to prison for up to 1 year.

New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams of Brooklyn is the latest name to surface as a possible 2018 Democratic primary challenger to Governor Cuomo. The Brooklyn Democrat said that he has been approached about a run for governor. Williams, Actress Cynthia Nixon, Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and former Hudson Valley State Senator Terry Gipson have also been mentioned as potential primary challengers to Andrew Cuomo

The Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie will offer free health screenings to women 40 or older that are uninsured/underinsured, in partnership with Bassett Healthcare this weekend. The screenings will be offered outside the gates of the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Walton, this Saturday, from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Appointments are requested at 1-888-345-0225.
