Attorney General Letitia James today secured an agreement with one of the nation’s largest insulin manufacturers, Novo Nordisk, to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for five years. The agreement also requires Novo Nordisk to implement a program with pharmacies to let uninsured patients know before they pay that they are eligible for the insulin cap. Today’s agreement follows earlier agreements with two other large insulin makers, Eli Lilly and Sanofi, to cap insulin prices at $35 a month for uninsured New Yorkers.

NYSEG officials reported that many customers were still without power this afternoon around the tri-county region, following last night’s powerful thunderstorms. NYSEG Reported about 1200 without power in Broome county, about 600 in Otsego County, 120 in Chenango County & about 25 in Delaware County, as crews continue to restore power in areas that had downed trees & power lines.

After hundreds of calls to the Oneonta Police Department to respond to various Issues at the Town House Inn on Main Street in Oneonta, City officials have decided to try to shut the motel down, Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek told WCDO news what they are doing:

In recent weeks, Oneonta Police have responded to a shots fired complaint, there was also a fatal overdose there recently, among the 400 incidents reported at the Town House Inn. Mayor Drnek said that the Oneonta Police Department, like many others, is short staffed and can’t spend many hours a week responding to the same location repeatedly.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded on August 13th, to a report of vandalism in the Town of Kortright. It was reported that someone had driven a bulldozer on West Kortright Church Road causing extensive damage to the roadway, on September 4th, Deputies arrested Robert Sargent for Criminal Mischief, he was released on an appearance ticket, for the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.

Delaware County District Attorney’s office announced that 32 year old Nicholas Durbin formerly of Deposit, appeared for arraignment on a 4-count indictment in Delaware County Court. Durbin is charged with Sexual Abuse & Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, for allegedly sexually abusing a 4-year-old child on 4 separate occasions, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, and he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $50,000.00 cash bail.

Delaware County 911 received call Sunday from the operator of tractor trailer stating that he had traveled off the roadway and had rolled over on State Highway 23 in the Town of Kortright. Delaware County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with members of the Davenport Fire Department, Stamford Fire Department, Bovina Fire Department, Headwaters EMS and NYS DEC Spill Response team. 61 year old Michael Rowe of Sidney was taken to Fox Hospital for minor injuries and was released. The investigation into the crash is continuing and tickets are pending.

Law enforcement in Pennsylvania have charged a New York woman, following an investigation into a car/pedestrian accident, where the pedestrian died & the driver left the scene. Lisa Barnes of Johnson City was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Deadly Crash after the crash on August 11th in Clinton Township, Franklin Pauler was unresponsive and suffering from a severe bleeding injury to his head, Barnes turned herself in the following day, claiming that she was lost & her GPS was not working, Pauler had died from his injuries at an area hospital the day after the accident.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 51 year old Kim Kraemer of Margaretville for driving while ability is impaired by the use of drugs and alcohol, and aggravated unlicensed operator, following a traffic stop in the Village of Delhi. Deputies observed the vehicle driving erratically, they discovered that Kraemer’s driving privileges were revoked for a prior DWI conviction. Kraemer was subsequently released on traffic summons and directed to appear at the Town of Delhi court at a later date to answer for the charge.

Broome County DA Mike Korchak announced that 57 year old Nicholas Vail was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison for 3rd degree robbery. Vail was arrested for robbing a market in Binghamton in February, he was previously convicted for robbery in 2019.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that the percentage of New Yorkers without health insurance declined every year since 2010 from 12% to 5.2% in 2021, well below the national average of 8.6%. Rates of uninsured New Yorkers are lower than the national average due to the state’s higher enrollment in public health insurance programs, which provided coverage to 4 in 10 New Yorkers in 2021. 4 arrests were made during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Troop “C” in Delaware County Tuesday. During the initiative, 26 businesses were checked, the 4 who were not in compliance were Carroll and Carver Wine & Spirits, Sidney, Breakey’s Liquor Store in Walton, Mirabito Quickway in Franklin & The Country Store in Roxbury. Delaware County Sheriff Deputy’s responded to a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle located at the intersection of Scotch Mountain Road & Arbuckle Hollow Road, in the Town of Delhi. Deputies observed 78-year-old Dante Musci of Delancey lying in the back seat of the vehicle, he had traveled along Arbuckle Hollow Road and was involved in a property damage auto accident and had left the scene. Musci was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, Operating a Motor Vehicle while impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated, he was released and will appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

Congressman Marc Molinaro announced over $27 million in federal funding for community development projects in New York’s 19th Congressional District. The City of Norwich will receive over 1.2 Million Dollars for Sanitary Sewer System Repairs& the Town of Oneonta will receive $4.2 Million Dollars for installation of 7,000 linear feet of sewer and water lines and associated laterals, meters, and hookups.

A Delaware County Grand Jury indicted Benjamin Moyse of Delhi on 11 charges. Count 1 alleged that, while a 10th grade teacher at Delaware Academy, Moyse intentionally aided a person under 16 years of age to commit the felony crimes of possessing and disseminating child pornography. The Grand Jury also charged Moyse with 5 separate counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for knowingly engaged in a course of conduct likely to be injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of 5 separate children at Delaware Academy. Moyse was also charged with 2 counts of Official Misconduct, for failing to follow the school’s policy and procedures when students and parents repeatedly reported to him that students were being sexually abused & for failing to report child abuse or maltreatment by his students and his students’ parents.

U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Amphenol has agreed to pay the United States $18 million dollars to resolve allegations for violating the False Claims Act. Amphenol admitted to filing false claims for electrical connectors to the U.S. government, that failed to fully comply with government regulations and contract specifications as well as the failure to meet required testing standards and other manufacturing and program requirements, between 2012 and 2017.

State Police arrested 65 year old Kenneth Powers & 28 year old Chelsea Gouse of Bedford Pennsylvania, for 22 counts of Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals & failure to provide proper sustenance. Troopers went to an apartment in Richfield Springs on another matter on July 19th, and discovered 22 animals inside living in crowded and filthy conditions. 10 dogs, 10 cats & 2 rabbits were removed & surrendered to the Susquehanna SPCA and were treated for various medical conditions, Powers and Gouse were processed and were issued appearance tickets to Richfield Springs Village Court on August 15th.

10 jurors have been seated in the Schoharie County trial of Nauman Hussain, the owner of Prestige Limo, the company hired to transport 17 people in a stretch limo that died, along with the driver & 2 people in a gas station, in an accident in Schoharie in October 2018. Hussain is charged with multiple counts of 2nd degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. He initially pleaded guilty to 20 felonies in a deal that required no prison time, but a new judge rejected that deal & ordered a new trial. The trial requires 12 jurors & 2 alternates before it can proceed.

The Broome County County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-car motor vehicle accident on I-88 westbound near the Exit 3 on-ramp in the town of Fenton. Officers reported that a Honda sedan traveling westbound on I-88 left the highway, crashing into the Chenango River, at about 11:30 this morning, both occupants were removed from the river by Deputies and transported to Wilson Hospital for their injuries. The unidentified driver suffered serious life threatening injuries, the passenger sustained minor injuries. Traffic was closed for several hours today in the right lane of I-88 westbound for the accident investigation concludes.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced that Johnathon Aldrich of Binghamton will serve 14 years behind bars and 5 years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to attempted murder, burglary, robbery & other charges for a home-invasion robbery and attempted murder in Binghamton on July 31st, 2022. Aldrich admitted that he and another person forcibly entered a residence on Bevier Street, threatened the occupants 7 stole money & handguns, also a gun was fired , no one was injured, Aldrich was apprehended by State Police and the firearms were recovered.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded on September 3rd to Domestic Dispute in the Town of Hamden, between Christopher Yeary and a victim that had an Order of Protection against him. Yeary left the scene & Deputies located him a short time later, he physically obstructed uniformed police officers attempting to take him into custody, he was charged with Criminal Contempt and Obstructing Governmental Administration. New COVID-19 vaccine boosters are available to New Yorkers which are designed to add Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants and bolster previous vaccination protection. The announcement follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to use updated COVID-19 boosters from Pfizer for anyone age 12 or older and from Moderna for those 18 or older. The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that 21 year old Brandon Carlson of Endwell was sentenced to 2 1/3rd to 7 years in jail and pay $45,000 in restitution, after pleading guilty to vehicular assault & attempted criminal possession of stolen property. On October 11th last year, Carlson stole a truck and led New York State Troopers on a high-speed chase, which ended when Carlson struck a car that caused a serious physical injury to the other driver, Carlson was found under the influence of methamphetamine during the incident.

Attorney General Letitia James announced that Cross Tie Disposal of Kentucky and company Vice President Harold Young are charged in a 42-count indictment that includes 30 counts of Falsifying Business Records and 11 counts of Endangering Public Health, Safety or the Environment. Cross Tie was supposed to dispose of old wood beams that were coated with creosote at a regulated site in Erie County but instead dumped the ties, contaminated with 11 hazardous substances at a property in Chenango County. The railroad ties have been removed as part of the Chenango County Industrial Development Agency’s Chenango County Rail Revitalization Services project in 2015 to repair and improve railroad tracks throughout the county.

Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration has lifted a 3-month pause on a new law that will require nursing homes to meet minimum standards for staffing and patient care. The law creates minimum staffing ratios and requires that nursing home residents get at least 3.5 hours per day of direct nursing care, it was approved in 2021 in response to the nursing home crisis during the pandemic, when thousands of Nursing Home residents died from the virus.

Fire destroyed 3 commercial buildings in Worcester Friday Night into Saturday Morning. The buildings were not occupied when the fire broke out, several area fire departments assisted Worcester Firefighters with the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office assisted the US Marshals in executing an arrest warrant in the Town of Maryland on 59 year old Michael Hawkins for failure to register as a sex offender. Hawkins was convicted in 1997 for child molestation in Rhode Island, he faces a maximum term of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Governor Kathy Hochul & the State Legislature failed to pass the state budget on time Friday. Negotiations over bail reform, to-go drinks and New York City casinos stalled the completion of the budget, If the budget isn’t passed today, paychecks for state government employees will be delayed, according to state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a 1 car motor vehicle accident Thursday on State Highway 23 in the Town of Davenport, near the intersection of Brick House Hill Road.  The investigation determined that a 13-year-old passenger sustained a serious head injury from the accident & LifeNet airlifted the teen to Albany Medical Center.  The driver 35 year-old Robert Smith of Davenport sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.   Deputies learned that Smith fell asleep at the wheel, the car travelled across the on-coming lane of traffic and ran off the roadway where it struck a tree, Smith was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, moving from a lane unsafely, failure to keep right, he will appear in the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

The State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that, beginning tomorrow, Chenango Street in City of Binghamton, will close in both directions at the I-81 overpass. The closure is expected to last approximately three months.  Motorists are advised that detours will be posted, through traffic heading north on Chenango Street will be diverted at Frederick Street & Southbound traffic will be diverted at Bevier Street.  Local traffic will retain access to homes, businesses, places of worship, and side streets located between the diversions and the overpass. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained through the work zone on Chenango Street.

Delaware County Public Health announced that a 53rd death from COVID 19 complications, they have had 100 new positive cases in the last week, there are 118 active cases, 4 hospitalized and 170 are quarantined.  The CDC & Delaware County Public Health recommends everyone should wear a mask indoors in public places.  Vaccine clinic sites at can be found at covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.  Currently, 49.4% of the Delaware County population is vaccinated, 77% of the positive cases are unvaccinated, 23% of the positive cases are vaccinated & 2.5% of positive cases are college students/employees.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that nearly 12,000 more deaths from COVID-19 than had been publicized announced by the Cuomo administration. New York now reports 55,395 people have died of COVID-19 in New York based on death certificate data submitted to the CDC, up from the roughly 43,400 that the Cuomo administration reported, based only on COVID 19 deaths only in Hospitals & nursing homes.

State Police are looking for the public’s help in finding a man who stole vehicle parts recently. Police stated that on June 27th and July 19th, a man operating a white Chevrolet Silverado stole scrap brake rotors from Sidney Tire, also on June 27th, he was observed at Certified Auto in Oneonta, taking truck tires and 5 rims into the same white Chevrolet Silverado. The man is described as a white male with short darker hair, between 30 -40 years old, wearing a dark t-shirt, dark pants, dark shoes with white soles. State Police are investigating a fatal 1-vehicle crash on I-81 in the town of Triangle Tuesday Night at about 6:15 PM. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle on its side and on fire with a fatality. Troopers are looking for any witnesses that may have seen the black Kia Sedona with Missouri license plates, the deceased has been identified as a 64 year old man from Missouri, the name will be released after family notification. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 775-1241.

The Binghamton Police Department recovered multiple “ghost guns” from a residence on Pine Street Monday. Officers were dispatched to 61 Pine Street around 11 p.m. for a report of one gunshot fired from inside an apartment with no injuries. Police said 18-year-old Mecca Rose of Binghamton for criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and 3 counts of unlawful possession of ammunition feeding devices; Rose was arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County Jail. Police executed a search warrant and recovered several “ghost guns,” which are described as privately made firearms that are unserialized and untraceable, assembled from parts or kits, which can be purchased online without the required federal background checks. Delaware County had 6 new positive cases with 8 active cases, 2 hospitalized & 14 quarantined, and they reported a total of 2425 cases since the pandemic began last year.

Governor Cuomo announced that Thursday was the 35th straight day that New York State’s COVID-19 infection rate has been below 1 percent. There were 880 new cases diagnosed Thursday out of 89,722 tests, the number of positive tests since March is 442,791. The number of patients hospitalized for the virus was 474, with 120 in ICU beds & 54 on ventilators.  There were 5 deaths Thursday, bringing the state Death Toll to 25,382.

Chenango County Public Health announced today that they are up to 242 COVID 19 cases since March, with 10 Active Cases, 1 hospitalization, 114 Quarantines 7 deaths, 210 recoveries & a total of 24,832 tests performed.

The Broome County Health Department announced Friday that they are reporting a total of 1293 COVID 19 cases since March.  They now report 82 deaths, 1149 recoveries, 423 are being monitored by the Health Department, and they have conducted over 46,000 tests.

The Community Foundation for South Central New York has released the results of their most recent survey of the needs of local non-profits as they continue to respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In August, as a follow-up to an earlier survey done, the Foundation surveyed local organizations including non-profits, school districts, economic development agencies and others, 111 responded with ongoing concerns about lost revenue, cash flow, the mental health of employees and clients, and the expectation that their circumstances will likely be worse in 2021.  More information about the Foundation can be found on its website at www.donorswhocare.org.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar submitted his proposed county budget by Zoom Thursday.  Broome County is facing hard economic times due to the economic shutdown following the COVID 19 pandemic earlier this year, a no -frills budget with a small tax decrease was forwarded by Garnar for consideration by the Broome County Legislature, all New York Counties are waiting to see if the next federal COVID relief package will finally contain aid to state & local governments.

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta.  Over the past 2 days 14 new cases have been reported. Currently, there are 829 total confirmed cases with 665 cases linked to SUNY Oneonta, there were 11 confirmed cases in Hartwick College, and 2 have since recovered.  268 active cases are currently residing in the county, and there are no hospitalizations.

Delaware County is reporting 2 new positive test results for COVID-19 and no additional recoveries today. The known active cases in the County as of today is 8, all are isolated at home. To date there have been 116 confirmed positive cases of COVID19 in Delaware County, with 69 people now under mandatory quarantine, 6 people have died and 102 have fully recovered.

The State Labor Department announced that payments for the Lost Wages Assistance program, which provides an additional $300 in weekly benefits to unemployed New Yorkers, will begin next week. Up to 2.4 million New Yorkers are eligible for the program, including 435,000 who must submit an additional certification to qualify, the Certification System Launches today, Payments Begin on a Rolling Basis Next Week.

WCDO NEWS TUESDAY 8-18-20 http://www.wcdoonline.com/localnews/wcdo-news-tuesday-8-18-20/ Tue, 18 Aug 2020 19:28:27 +0000 http://www.wcdoonline.com/localnews/?p=7868 Continue reading ]]> Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2 motorcycle, 1 car accident Saturday night on State Route 206 in the town of Walton.   Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies and Walton Fire Department and Emergency Squads were dispatched to a motorcycle – deer accident on State Highway 206 near the intersection of Davis Road. 64-year-old Bruce Gerken, and his wife, 58-year-old Deborah Gerken of Bainbridge were traveling on a motorcycle when they collided with a deer that ran into the roadway, Bruce Gerken lost control & he and his wife were ejected from the motorcycle, which then struck a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Debra Higley of Trout Creek.  Bruce & Deborah Gerken were taken to Wilson Hospital, Debra Higley & her passenger 62 year-old Luther Higley were uninjured.  Another motorcyclist traveling with the Gerkens, 74-year-old Richard King from Bainbridge lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to avoid the Gerken’s collision; he struck the guide wires, his Motorcycle overturned, fatally injuring King.  The accident remains under investigation

The State Health Department reported 655 additional cases of COVID 19, after testing almost 67,000 people Monday, bringing the statewide total to 426,571 since March.  537 people are hospitalized, 126 are in Intensive Care, with 60 on ventilators, and there were 8 deaths from the virus Monday, bringing the state death toll to 25,264.

Chenango County Public Health reported that they have had 218 total confirmed cases of COVID 19 since March, they have 96 Active Quarantines, 1 Hospitalization, 199 Total Recoveries, 7 deaths they have conducted 19916 tests.

Governor Cuomo announced that 2 additional states have been added to the travel advisory requiring individuals who have traveled to New York from those states to quarantine for 14 days. The City of Oneonta has established a dedicated hotline for citizens to report concerns over gatherings that are seen as jeopardizing public health doing this time of COVID-19 pandemic. New York State Law currently prohibits gatherings at which individuals cannot remain a minimum of 6 feet distance from others. Under no circumstances are gatherings of more than 50 persons permitted. US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced that she & many other members of Congress are calling on Postmaster Louis Dejoy to respond regarding the apparent dismantling of the US Postal Service:

Gillibrand said that she is also calling for the Postal Bank to be brought back, which could generate up to 9 Billion dollars a year in revenue for the under-funded postal service.

State Police arrested 24 year old Alexander Hartman of Binghamton for 2nd degree Burglary and 3rd degree Arson.  On August 9, Troopers and the Nanticoke Fire Department were dispatched to a garage fire, an investigation revealed that Hartman broke into a residence to steal items then started a fire in the garage.  Hartman was arrested and processed at the Binghamton barracks & he was later transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

Delaware County received no new positive test result for COVID-19 today or over the weekend and no additional recoveries have been reported. The known active cases in the County as of today remains at 2. To date there have been 98 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 people now under mandatory quarantine.  2 people are isolated at home, 6 people have died and 90 have fully recovered.

Sheriff Dumond said that the arrests followed a month long investigation; all were charged with 2nd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance they were arraigned in Delhi Court & were remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail pending future court action, additional charges are anticipated & the investigation is ongoing.  Sidney Village Police assisted at the scene.

State Police are investigating a crash in the town of Franklin that left 2 teenagers in serious condition.  Troopers were dispatched Thursday afternoon at about 4:30 PM to Walley Road in the town of Franklin; they located a Chevy pick-up truck with a 17-year-old male driver and 14-year-old male passenger crashed into a tree.  The investigation revealed that speed was a contributing factor when the unidentified 17-year-old lost control of the vehicle around a curve on Wally Road, spun off the roadway and into a tree.  Both occupants were transported by LifeNet to Albany Medical Center.   The accident remains under investigation.

State police are investigating a sewage spill that Thursday afternoon at about 2:30 PM on County Route 10 near Elk Creek Road in the town of Meredith.  The unidentified Driver of the septic tanker was taken to Fox Hospital for evaluation, the driver rolled the septic tanker, which spilled about 2,000 gallons of sewage, & struck a utility Pole, temporarily knocking out phone & electric service in the east Meredith area.  The septic tanker belonged to JB’s Line Cleaning and Plumbing Service, the cause of the accident is under investigation.

State Police responded to an early morning crash at approximately 4:40 AM today on State Highway 12 near Phetteplace Road in the town of Norwich.  The investigation revealed that a 42-year-old male from Chittenango operating a delivery truck crossed over the yellow lines & struck a tractor trailer head-on, the tractor trailer burst into flames on contact.  The driver of the tractor trailer was a 45-year-old male from Lisle.  Troopers reported that the delivery van driver was transported to Wilson Memorial and later moved to Upstate Medical in Syracuse, sustaining non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.   State route 12 was closed for about 7 hours for the investigation & clean up; the roadway was re-opened shortly before noon.  More information will be released as it is made available. The accident remains under investigation.

Governor Cuomo today announced that the New York State Board for Historic Preservation has recommended adding 14 properties to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. In the Southern Tier, the First Presbyterian Church of Deposit, Built in 1880, has been recommended by the Governor.

Chenango County Officials announced that State Route 12 between Halfway House Road in the town of Norwich & State Route 220 is closed, due to a 2 vehicle head on crash between a Van & A Tractor Trailer.   The road will be closed for several hours for the cleanup & investigation; motorists are advised to use Chenango County Route 32 as a detour.

Wilcox Emerging Young Artist Scholarship is this Friday, June 7th.  The Scholarship is open to High school students in Chenango County and adjacent counties, the Emerging Young Artists program gives promising young artists a chance to exhibit and sell their work at Colors cape in Norwich in September.  Students who wish to participate can download an application at colorscape.org.

Oneonta City Officials announced that work continues on Main Street with hydrant installations occurring between Hunt St and Fifth St, this week and next week. Norwich City Officials announced that 33 Mitchell Street should be razed.  a back wall of the 1855 building fell down last week, no one was injured and all occupants were evacuated.  The building’s owners was notified & has 30 days to appeal the City’s decision.

Otsego County Sheriff Department arrested 69 year old Dale Putnam of the Town of Maryland following an investigation into animal cruelty. Putnam was charged with 6 Counts of Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals & failure to provide proper sustenance, after the Sheriff’s Department received a complaint of possible dead animals at a farm located on State Hwy 7 in the Town of Maryland.  Deputies located approximately 20 dead cows in a barn, 4 dead cows were located in the fields, and 1 cow was in poor health from giving birth to a calf and had to be euthanized.  The remaining cattle were taken in by local farmers for safe keeping until the end of the investigation and court proceedings.  Putnam was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Maryland Court and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Watson is accused of breaking the victim’s car window during the dispute, he was arraigned in the town of Guilford Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail with no bail pending court action on September 11th, and an order of protection was also issued to the victim.

State Senator Jim Seward announced a $1 million state grant to help fund major renovations and improvements at historic Damaschke Field in Oneonta. 3 people were arrested in connection with a series of area burglaries.  State Police arrested 27 year old Steven Barrows of Sidney and 27 year old Zackery England of Sidney for Burglary and Conspiracy and 30 year old Nicole Bell of Oneonta for False Personation, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawfully Possessing a Noxious Material & as a fugitive from justice from the state of Georgia. An investigation revealed that Barrows and England allegedly attempted to break into the property in Guilford, burglarized a seasonal home in Oxford and a seasonal garage in Guilford. Bell originally provided a false name during the arrest of all 3, she was found to be in possession of 2 bb guns, methamphetamine, heroin and brass knuckles. Barrows and England were arraigned in the town of Oxford Court where Barrows was remanded with no bail to the Chenango County Jail and England was remanded on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 property bond. Bell was arraigned in the town of Unadilla Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on no bail.  Additional charges are also expected.

State Police arrested 26 year old Zachary Thomas of Deposit for Grand Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. A trooper was contacted by the administrator of an estate of a man who recently passed away. The administrator told the trooper a $5,000 tractor was stolen from the property, Thomas allegedly took the tractor and hid it behind a barn in Bainbridge. Thomas was arrested and arraigned in the town of Coventry Court where he was released on his own recognizance. His next appearance in court is September 26th.
