Deposit Fire Department responded Wednesday morning at about 4:00 AM to a house fire in the Town of Sanford. A motorist stopped at a house along North Sanford Road and told a resident about the fire in the woods down the road. Arriving crews found a house and garage fully involved, which led to a brush fire. Investigators believe that the fire started long before it was reported, both the house & garage were destroyed. The fire is still under investigation. Deposit Fire fighters were assisted by the Harpursville, Windsor, West Windsor, Afton Fire Departments, Broome Ambulance, State Police, with Masonville Fire Department covering the Deposit district during the incident.

State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 32 year old Boyd Fenton of Athens, Pennsylvania after a fire at a barn at the Tioga Downs Casino complex Thursday. Over two-dozen racehorses died in the fire. Fenton has been charged with Arson, Burglary, Criminal Mischief & Assault, An investigation revealed that Fenton entered the barn and intentionally set a fire, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. 1 person who entered the burning barn in an attempt to save horses suffered second degree burns and was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment. Fenton was arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County Correctional Facility.

Court has adjourned on Thursday in former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial, with the trial scheduled to resume Monday for the start of the defense’s case. The court will be closed Friday in observation of Veterans Day. Donald Trump Jr. will return to the witness stand to testify as the defense’s first witness on Monday, if the judge does not rule in favor of Trump’s motion for a directed verdict to end the case early.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Jentre Bergman of McGraw for Robbery. On September 23rd, Bergman allegedly went to a residence in the Town of German, where he forcefully stole a Harley-Davidson motorcycle by pointing a shotgun at the victim & fled the scene on the motorcycle. An arrest warrant was then issued for Bergman, who was arrested by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and held in their facility on un-related charges. Bergman was then transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed for charges of Robbery, Grand Larceny, and Menacing, he was arraigned in the Town of German Court where bail was set at $5,000. Bergman was then transported back to the Cortland County Correctional Facility where he is being held.

40 year old Cory Kujawski of Burlington Flats was indicted by an Otsego County Grand Jury. State Police arrested Kujawski, for 3 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, 2 counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child & 1 count of Criminal Sexual Act, he is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 on several occasions, he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance & was referred to Otsego County probation.

State Police arrested 39 year old Antoine Laporte of Buffalo for Criminal Possession of a Weapon after a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed, The Trooper attempted to catch up to the vehicle but lost sight of the car, the trooper ended up finding the vehicle rolled over at the bottom of the East Branch exit ramp. Laporte walking on Harvard Road, he fled but was eventually detained, Laporte had multiple warrants for Assault and Larceny in Erie County and in the state of New Jersey, troopers also located a weapon in the wrecked vehicle. Laporte was transported to Wilson Hospital for a medical evaluation, he was released & was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

Hochul has more than $21 million in her campaign warchest, she earned 85.6% of the weighted vote at the Democratic Party convention Thursday, she will likely still face primary challenges from Congressman Tom Suozzi and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

Sidney Police arrested 44 year old Andrew Besuglow of Afton Tuesday on a drug charge, following a vehicle and traffic complaint received on December 3rd, where Besuglow was arrested for allegedly Driving while ability impaired by drugs, the substance was sent to the State Police crime lab for processing, where it was confirmed to be Fentanyl. Besuglow was charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance, he was arraigned in the Village of Sidney Court where he was released on his own recognizance at appear back in court at a later date.

The State’s 1st Free Fishing Weekend of 2022, on February 19 and 20, when freshwater anglers are permitted to fish for free without a license. Additional free fishing days include June 25 and 26, September 24 (National Hunting and Fishing Day), and November 11 (Veterans Day). During free fishing days, residents and visitors can fish for free on any of the state’s 7,500 lakes and ponds or 70,000 miles of rivers and streams. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that the State Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump must all appear for sworn testimony, and Donald Trump must produce additional documents in compliance with subpoenas from the Office of the Attorney General. The judge ordered the Trumps to appear for testimony within 21 days, and ordered Donald Trump to produce additional documentation within 14 days.

The State Supreme Court, Appellate Division has ruled Delaware County was justified in terminating former Department of Social Services Commissioner, Dana Scuderi-Hunter and her petition to be reinstated and receive back pay was denied. In 2019, Delaware County filed charges against Scuderi-Hunter for misconduct, insubordination, and child endangerment. Under Civil Service Law, an independent Administrative Hearing Officer was brought in to review evidence, hear testimony, and make a recommendation to the Delaware County Board of Supervisors regarding the case, the Officer found significant evidence to support the charges and recommended immediate termination with no back pay.

A Female State Trooper has filed a lawsuit asking a federal court to declare that former Governor Andrew Cuomo, top aide Melissa DeRosa and state police violated her civil rights. The trooper’s name was not disclosed in the lawsuit, which was filed Thursday filed in New York City, the trooper seeks attorney fees, damages for “severe mental anguish and emotional distress,” and a declaratory judgment that Cuomo, DeRosa and state police violated civil laws on the federal, state and city level prohibiting sexual harassment.
