The Greater Oneonta Historical Society is planning an online Auction November 12th, and they will also return with an in person Auction November 19th, as their 2 main Fundraisers this year. Spokesman Bob Brzozowski told WCDO News that they hope to bounce back this year after just doing an online auction last year, due to the pandemic & shutdown:

On October 21st, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at 68 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on State Highway 8 in Masonville. 52-year-old Jack Mason of Whitney Point, was stopped, his license was revoked due to failure to answer a prior summons from the Sidney Town Court. Mason was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Failure to Use a Turn Signal, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Stop Lamps. Mason was later released on traffic tickets to Masonville Town Court at a later date.

Governor Kathy Hochul reported that the numbers are slowly improving regarding COVID 19 in the state Saturday. over 166,000 were tested Saturday, with 3588 positives, for a positivity rate of 2.1% Patient Hospitalization are down to 1,842, the number of Patients in an ICU is down to 448 & the number on ventilators is down to 253, there were 26 deaths reported in hospitals & nursing homes Saturday.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation designating a portion of State Route 51 in the Town of Butternuts as SP4 Richard F. Walton, Jr. Memorial Highway. Richard Walton, Jr. was born and raised in the Town of Butternuts, he underwent basic training and medical training after enlisting, he volunteered to go to Vietnam, On February 6th, 1970, while serving in Vietnam, Walton lost his life in a helicopter crash.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies issued 37 year old Joel Klinegardner of Sidney Center 25 Traffic Tickets as a result of an investigation into Commercial Vehicle Accident on May 31st on Pines Brook Road in the Town of Walton. The initial investigation stated that Klinegardner lost control, the truck struck a sign, the trailer detached & overturned in a parking lot, the truck struck a tree before coming to rest. Klinegardner was issued tickets for violations including Operating A Commercial Vehicle Without a Commercial Driver’s License, Inoperable Brake, worn tires, Inoperable Required Lamps, Switched Trailer Plate, Improper Heavy Machine Securement, Moved From Lane Unsafely, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Failure To Stop At A Stop Sign. Klinegardner is scheduled to appear at Walton Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an ATV rollover accident in the Town of Walton involving two individuals. 30 year old John Wright of New Jersey was operating an ATV without a helmet and in an intoxicated condition while 26 year old Alaire Houck of New Jersey was a passenger on the ATV. Both were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital for further treatment. The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 3 people on various drug charges after they executed a search warrant in Binghamton Tuesday. Police seized heroin, crack cocaine, digital scales and packaging materials, they arrested 37 year old Jack Whitehead, 38 year old Nicole Brown & 31 year old Brandy Henniger are due to be arraigned in Binghamton City Court.

State Police arrested 52 year old Wilberto Solivan of Binghamton for Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol or Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. A trooper observed Sollivan commit several traffic violations, Sollivan was determined to be impaired and crack cocaine was located in his possession, he was arrested then released on appearance tickets returnable to the city of Binghamton Court on July 9th.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the guilty plea and conviction of Robert Niederriter of Kirkwood, and his business, Buffalo Head Bar & Grill, for failing to file numerous sales tax returns and remit over $59,000 in sales tax that was collected at the business. Niederriter paid $59,789 to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for the unpaid sales tax and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge.

State Police arrested 35 Year old Christopher Lindow of Binghamton for Driving While Intoxicated with a B.A.C of .29% and several traffic infractions. A passing motorist had contacted Chenango County 911 reporting that a vehicle was parked in the middle of the driving lane on State Route 26, in the town of Bainbridge. Lindow was arrested & was released on appearance tickets for town of Bainbridge Court on April 5th.

State Police arrested 49 year old Dwayne Lockwood of Guilford for DWI. Troopers were originally called to a dispute at a residence in the town of Butternuts but learned that Lockwood left the residence prior to their arrival. Lockwood was located by Troopers at a business nearby, he was arraigned in the town of Guilford Court, he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond pending an April 10th court date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 41 year old Daniel Sulima of Walton, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, following a routine traffic stop in Walton. Troopers discovered that Sulima’s driving privileges were revoked, he was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with unsafe tires. Sulima was arraigned at the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $150 cash bail, pending future court action.

Binghamton Police Department responded to 84 Pine Street Friday morning, where they found 51-year-old Lazar Jones deceased on the front porch, Jones was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 41 year old Miguel Manchion and 21 year old Courtney Baldwin were both charged with 2nd degree murder The investigation is ongoing. Jennifer Grenchus of Vestal was sentenced Friday in Broome County Court to 5 years of probation, following her serving 11 months in jail, for striking 47 year old Ronald Richardson of Binghamton with her vehicle, Richardson was found pinned underneath. Grenchus’ vehicle struck Richardson along Main Street and dragged his body underneath for several yards, before she turned into a parking lot. Richardson died at the scene, Grenchus was impaired by drugs at the time, she pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in November.
