State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released a report regarding the City of Norwich’s adopted budget for the 2021 fiscal year.  The review found that officials adequately assessed the impact of the pandemic on financial operations while developing estimates for significant revenues and expenditures in the 2021 adopted budget.  A Key Recommendation, City officials should carefully monitor their budget to actual revenues and expenditures and make amendments to the budget as needed throughout the year.

Hartwick College announced today that the campus will remain closed to the public through the summer of 2021. The State Department of Transportation has begun the $16 million project to replace the bridge carrying U.S. Route 11 (Front Street) over Interstate 81 in the Town of Dickinson. The project will also construct roundabouts at two intersections along U.S. Route 11 and upgrade a third with new traffic signals. The estimated completion date of the project is fall of 2022.

New York is continuing a study of specific air conditioning filter requirements to potentially prevent the airborne spread of the Coronavirus. Governor Cuomo comments:

The State will make industry recommendations on the use of air filtration technology to potentially eliminate the spread of COVID-19 through air conditioning systems, as research emerges that Coronavirus spread is linked more to airborne transmission than to surface area transmissions.

Sidney Town Supervisor Gene Pigford announced that the next Sidney Town Board Meeting will be held live at 7:00 pm this Thursday, July 9th at 44 Grand Street in Sidney.  Social distancing and masks will be required for entrance. Public attendance is limited to 30% of the meeting room capacity and seats are available until that capacity is reached.  Arrangements will also be in place to view the Meeting via Zoom. Chenango County Public Health announced their latest statistics regarding the Coronavirus.  There have been 156 total cases, with 57 Active Quarantines, 6 deaths, 140 recoveries, no one is hospitalized.  They have conducted 12,150 Tests.

Sidney Center residents are advised that a follow up Re-Zoning meeting with Town Supervisor Gene Pigford will be held Thursday, July 16th, @ 6:30PM @ the firemen’s field in downtown Sidney Center. The meeting was arranged following a meeting last week on July 1st, where Sidney Center residents wanted more information regarding the potential for rezoning a sizable portion of the hamlet.

Otsego County reported 3 more cases of the Coronavirus Monday, bringing their total number of positive cases to 80.  Currently, there are 23 people quarantined, no one is hospitalized, 72 have recovered, there have been 5 deaths, 31 individuals are being monitored after travel from a state with high incidence of infection
