Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year old Shane Tweedie of Hamden for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Menacing, Reckless Endangerment & 2 counts of Harassment, following a report that Tweedie allegedly threatened to stab 2 people with a knife, leaving the scene & leading to a manhunt. Tweedie was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000.00 cash bail.

In June, New York State’s private sector job count rose by 15,000, to over 8.1 Million, according to preliminary figures released today by the State Department of Labor.
The State unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.5% in June, which is the lowest level since June 2007.

State Police arrested 33 year old Tyson Robb of Delhi, for DWI, after Troopers spotted Robb in the pull off area on State Route 10 in Delhi and checked on his welfare. Troopers accuse Robb of being intoxicated, he was arrested and issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Delhi Court on July 24th. State police arrested 30 year old Jennifer Hewitt of Delhi for DWI after she arrived at the State Police barracks to pick up Robb. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Harpersfield Court on July 23rd. Both Robb and Hewitt were then turned over to a sober third party and released.

State Police arrested 21 year old Dana Scarinzi of Endicott for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, after Troopers were dispatched to a 2-car accident on State Route 79 in Colesville. Troopers determined that Scarinzi crossed over the center line and sideswiped a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction & they accuse Scarinzi of being intoxicated, with a reported B.A.C. of .21%. Scarinzi will appear in the town of Colesville Court on August 1st.

State Police arrested 34 year old Gabriel McKown of Guilford for 2nd degree Burglary. Troopers began an investigation after a complainant in Union reported that McKown had unlawfully entered their residence without permission on several occasions. McKown was arraigned in the town of Union Court. He was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

State Police at Deposit arrested 55 year old Thomas Leonard of Hancock for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. A trooper on patrol observed Leonard operating a vehicle with an expired registration and what appeared to be a photocopy of an inspection sticker. After a traffic stop was initiated, an investigation led to the trooper locating drugs in Leonard’s possession. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned in the village of Hancock Court. Leonard was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Solid Waste Facility Director Susan McIntyre and staff at the Center, on State Highway 10 in Walton, for a public open house on Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Governor Cuomo said that the 50-year old abortion law could be overturned by the Supreme Court, following the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Cuomo said that only 1 Republican vote in the State Senate will ensure that no matter what happens at the federal level, the protections offered by Roe v. Wade would still be secure in New York.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Friday to a report of a 1-car motor vehicle accident on Richardson Hill Road in the Town of Masonville. Deputies found the driver, 20 year old Holden Smith of Sidney Center lying on the shoulder of the roadway with an apparent broken leg. Smith’s car was found over the embankment at that location and was found to have impacted a tree head on. Further investigation revealed that Smith was driving to Sidney Center from the Ithaca area at the time of the accident, and that Smith had consumed prescription medications prior to the accident. Smith was later transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment of the injuries sustained from the collision.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34 year old Patricia Ware of Sharon Springs for Petty Larceny; she is accused of taking various items from a home that she is a caretaker for in the Town of Franklin. Ware was arraigned at the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $3000 cash bail or $6000 bond. She was scheduled to appear before the Town of Franklin Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 24 year old James Joyce of Colesville for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle & Reckless Endangerment, plus more than a dozen traffic tickets after he attempted to elude troopers while on an ATV. A trooper on State Route 7 in Unadilla observed Joyce on an ATV as he passed an ambulance with its emergency lights activated and over a double solid yellow line. Joyce fled from the trooper, nearly striking a pedestrian. The pursuit was terminated In Bainbridge when Joyce drove onto railroad tracks & he tipped over. Joyce was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond, pending court action on July 24, 2018.

State Police arrested 33 year old Ashlie Keesler of Downsville for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Child Under 15 or Under as Passenger, & Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test. A trooper on patrol observed Keesler and two children walking on State Highway 30 in Colchester, an investigation revealed that Keesler had been involved in an accident and her vehicle went over an embankment. Keesler and the children were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital. Keesler was arrested and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Colchester Town Court on August 7th.
