SUNY Delhi ranks in the top 15 for online education according to Best College Reviews. The site called SUNY Delhi a Leader in online higher education for its experienced faculty and bachelor degree programs” in Hospitality Management, Criminal Justice, and Nursing. Upgrades have been completed at SUNY Oneonta, according to the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. $2.2 million in improvements included replacing the roof at Huntington Hall, converting two bathrooms in Hulbert Hall into laundry rooms, giving a WiFi coverage boost to Wilber Hall, upgrading fire systems in Wilber, Little and Sherman Halls, and applying a new interior wall finish in Hayes Hall. The upgrades were part of $30 million in upgrades that were completed at SUNY campuses throughout the state within a 90-day period, so that they would be completed by the time students returned to school.
Governor Cuomo addressed President Trump’s decision to rescind the “DEFERRED ACTION FOR CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS” program Yesterday.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34 year old Devin Mahoney of Oneonta on a Bench Warrant issued by Walton Village Court for failure to appear on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Mahoney was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail On $1000 bail. Deputies were assisted by State Police.

State Police arrested 51 year old Gerald Ackerman of Andes for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Blood Circulation, and Harassment, after troopers responded to a dispute in the town of Andes. Ackerman is accused of grabbing a woman by the throat and threatening her; he was arraigned in the town of Andes court and was remanded to the Delaware County jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond. His next court date is September 26, 2017.

The Chenango County Department of Public Works will close County Road 10A, between Crandall Street and Manley Road in the Town of Norwich Today. The closure will be from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM, as crews replace a culvert. The intersection end of Hale Road will also be closed and no traffic is allowed to exit off of Hale Road onto County Road 10A during the closure.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 59 year old Michael Smith of the Bronx on charges of speeding, unlicensed operator, and aggravated unlicensed operation following a traffic stop on Main Street in the Village of Delhi. Smith was later released on tickets returnable to Delhi Town Court at a later date.

The husband of a Pennsylvania woman found dead back in July is now charged with involuntary manslaughter. Scott Kunkle, 29, of Monroe Twp., is charged with aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife, 28-year-old Patricia Kunkle, in July after Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic dispute at the couple’s home. An autopsy at Lourdes Hospital ruled Patricia’s death a homicide and the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and internal injuries. Toxicology reports showed the presence of bath salts in Patricia’s system. Kunkle was originally arrested for simple assault and reckless endangerment before those charges were withdrawn Monday morning by the Bradford County District Attorney. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

A two vehicle accident near the town line of Nanticoke and Glen Aubrey has left two dead. 34 year old Brett Berg, of Johnson City was driving his car south on Route 26 when it crossed into the opposite lane while going around a curve and hit an SUV. Berg and Michael Smith, 49, of Homer, were pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Gail Renninger-Smith, 50, of Homer, was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
