Norwich City Police Department responded to 90 East Main Street Monday afternoon following a complaint of Gunshots from a tenant at that location. Norwich Police Officers arrested Sean Frear for criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment & criminal mischief, Police stated that Frear was under the influence of methamphetamine when he discharged a 12-gauge shotgun into the apartment below him, he was arraigned & was being held on $5,000 cash bail pending future court action.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit arrested 34 year old Carnel McCarden of Johnson City, police stated that McCarden dove through a glass window at 57 Miriam Street Tuesday to elude police investigators. McCarden was armed with 2 handguns, he was injured by broken glass, police searched the residence They Seized crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. McCarden was charged with 3 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, 2 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration, McCarden was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced that 28 year old Paris Belton of Patersonville pleaded guilty to DWI In Masonville Town Court. Belton was charged after crashing his vehicle on State Route 8 on March 5th, Sidney Police & State Police responded, Belton had his licensed revoked, was ordered to attend a drug & alcohol evaluation, & must comply with recommendations, Belton was also charged $900 in fees & fines, and he must install an interlock device on all of his vehicles.

Several Area Fire Departments were called to the scene of a structure fire on Mary Brown Road in the town of Laurens this morning At about 9:10 AM. Firefighters from Laurens, Hartwick, Milford, West Oneonta, Morris & Oneonta have responded, The fire was called in an occupant, who reported that all other occupants escaped without injuries. Delaware County District Attorney’s office announced that 52 year old Robin Reese of Bainbridge pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Driving While Intoxicated, in the Village of Delhi on 2 separate occasions. Reese admitted that she had a previous DWI conviction within the prior 10 years, which resulted in these charges being felonies, she was sentenced to 2 separate terms of 5-year felony probation supervision, she was also sentenced to Adult Treatment Court, she must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and successfully comply with any treatment recommendations. Reese’s license was revoked, and the Court imposed fines and surcharges in the amount of $4,140.00.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office will hold the 1st of 4 Public Safety Town Halls, Today’s meeting at the Town of Chenango Town Hall from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Sheriff Akshar, Undersheriff Davis and members of the Sheriff’s Office team will be present to discuss issues, answer questions. AN ENDICOTT MAN WAS ARRESTED FOLLOWING A BANK ROBBERY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE NBT BANK BRANCH ON ROBINSON STREET IN BINGHAMTON. 24 YEAR OLD NYQUAN WILLIAMS WAS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND CRIMINAL USE OF A FIREARM. WILLIAMS WAS SPOTTED RIDING A BICYCLE AND AFTER A BRIEF STRUGGLE, HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. OFFICERS RECOVERED 60 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH AND A LOADED HANDGUN. POLICE THEN EXECUTED A SEARCH WARRANT AT WILLIAM’S RESIDENCE AND FOUND SEVERAL PIECES OF EVIDENCE RELATED TO A JULY 2ND BANK ROBBERY AT THE NBT BANK BRANCH IN JOHNSON CITY. JOHNSON CITY POLICE HAVE CHARGED HIM WITH ROBBERY IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND CRIMINAL USE OF A FIREARM IN THAT JULY BANK ROBBERY. IN TOTAL, WILLIAMS IS FACING FIVE CHARGES. A DELHI WOMAN IS FACING A NUMBER OF CHARGES STEMMING FROM A SERIES OF INCIDENTS TUESDAY MORNING . 50 YEAR OLD ROBIN REESE IS ACCUSED OF CALLING 911 TO REPORT AN INDIVIDUAL BANGING ON AN APARTMENT DOOR AND ACTIVATING A FIRE ALARM AT PHOEBE LANE APARTMENTS IN DELHI. SHE THEN LEFT THAT LOCATION IN A VEHICLE BEFORE BEING STOPPED BY SUNY DELHI POLICE. UPON THE CONCLUSION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION, SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES DETERMINED THAT REESE’S DRIVERS LICENSE WAS REVOKED IN 2018 AS A RESULT OF A DWI CONVICTION. Chenango Sheriff’s office arrested a Village of Sherburne man for Rape in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. The Detectives Division arrested Jason L. Fowlston, age 44 of the Village of Sherburne for multiple counts of Rape in the First Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. The arrest stemmed from acomplaint received involving an alleged forcible rape of a person under the age of 17 multiple times, over the course of several months. Fowlston is currently at the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office awaiting arraignment.

The City of Oneonta will continue work on the catch basin replacement near the exit of the City Hall parking lot on South Main St through Friday, August 6th. Work will begin around 7:00am and conclude by 3:30pm. South Main St will be closed to local traffic only. Please use caution and obey all temporary traffic control devices.
