Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year old Shane Tweedie of Hamden for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Menacing, Reckless Endangerment & 2 counts of Harassment, following a report that Tweedie allegedly threatened to stab 2 people with a knife, leaving the scene & leading to a manhunt. Tweedie was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000.00 cash bail.

In June, New York State’s private sector job count rose by 15,000, to over 8.1 Million, according to preliminary figures released today by the State Department of Labor.
The State unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.5% in June, which is the lowest level since June 2007.

State Police arrested 33 year old Tyson Robb of Delhi, for DWI, after Troopers spotted Robb in the pull off area on State Route 10 in Delhi and checked on his welfare. Troopers accuse Robb of being intoxicated, he was arrested and issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Delhi Court on July 24th. State police arrested 30 year old Jennifer Hewitt of Delhi for DWI after she arrived at the State Police barracks to pick up Robb. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Harpersfield Court on July 23rd. Both Robb and Hewitt were then turned over to a sober third party and released.

State Police arrested 21 year old Dana Scarinzi of Endicott for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, after Troopers were dispatched to a 2-car accident on State Route 79 in Colesville. Troopers determined that Scarinzi crossed over the center line and sideswiped a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction & they accuse Scarinzi of being intoxicated, with a reported B.A.C. of .21%. Scarinzi will appear in the town of Colesville Court on August 1st.

State Police arrested 34 year old Gabriel McKown of Guilford for 2nd degree Burglary. Troopers began an investigation after a complainant in Union reported that McKown had unlawfully entered their residence without permission on several occasions. McKown was arraigned in the town of Union Court. He was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

State Police at Deposit arrested 55 year old Thomas Leonard of Hancock for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. A trooper on patrol observed Leonard operating a vehicle with an expired registration and what appeared to be a photocopy of an inspection sticker. After a traffic stop was initiated, an investigation led to the trooper locating drugs in Leonard’s possession. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned in the village of Hancock Court. Leonard was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Solid Waste Facility Director Susan McIntyre and staff at the Center, on State Highway 10 in Walton, for a public open house on Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. There will be guided tours of the compost facility and recycling center where people can see how solid waste is handled through the sustainable practices of composting, recycling and resource recovery. Also arrested, on an arrest warrant sealed indictment was 35-year-old Shawn Carnicelli of Sidney for criminal sale of a controlled substance, fro allegedly selling cocaine in the village of Sidney. Carnicelli was remanded to the Delaware county jail pending future court proceedings. State police assisted Sidney police in this investigation.

State Police responded to a car-pedestrian crash on Gilmore Lane in Norwich. 32-year-old Brandon Jones was driving a pickup when he got into a verbal dispute with his wife, who was a passenger. Police said that the wife exited the vehicle; the truck then struck her, causing serious injuries. She was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. Jones was charged with 2nd-degree vehicular assault and DWI, he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $7,500 cash bail or $20,000 bond pending court action on January 24th.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a 1 car, rollover accident on State Highway 10 in the Town of Tompkins. 30-year-old Adam Buteau of Deposit swerved to avoid a deer and went off the highway and crossed over the guide rail, the vehicle hit a number of trees & overturned, coming to rest on its roof. Deputies charged Buteau with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus a number of traffic other violations. Buteau was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

Many area fire departments responded to a fire on State Route 7 in the Wells Bridge area this morning. The fire started at about 7:00 AM at a 2 story structure across the road from the former Babcock’s, firefighters from Wells Bridge, Unadilla, Franklin, Sidney, Oneonta, West Oneonta & Gilbertsville responded, traffic was detoured off of route 7 while firefighters tackled that fire. The investigation into the cause of the blaze is continuing.

Lawmakers are getting a chance to look over Governor Cuomo’s executive Budget proposal, which was released earlier this week, area Assemblyman Pete Lopez comments:

Laurens Firefighters responded yesterday to a fire at a Main Street structure right across the street from their station Thursday afternoon at about 5:30. Firefighters from Laurens, West Laurens, Oneonta, West Oneonta, Mount Vision, Hartwick, Milford and Otego Fire Departments responded, the building contained 4 apartments and room for 2 businesses on the first floor, which were vacant. The building was considered destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Sidney Elks Lodge. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help support a group of Sidney High School students who will be traveling to the Grand Canyon in April. Tickets are available at the door.

Purinton was apprehended in Laurens, where he was reportedly staying with family members, he was turned over to Oneida deputies after a warrant was issued charging him with 1st degree burglary.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office, & Endicott Police located 15 year old Rebecca Shackelton, who had run away from a Broome County group home. Shackelton was located with a 16-year-old male acquaintance in Endicott Thursday, the 16-year-old male was found to have an active Family Court Warrant and both subjects were turned over to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detectives transported both subjects to Broome Family Court where the 16-year-old male was turned over to the custody of the court. Shackelton was transported to the Village of Bainbridge where she was returned to her legal guardian. Police said that Shackelton was not endangered or harmed during the timeframe and was willingly in the company of the 16 year old acquaintance.

State Police arrested 30-year-old Nathan Tuttle of Deposit on 4 counts of Sexual Abuse and 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Tuttle is accused of having sexual contact with a 15 year old victim and sending the victim inappropriate pictures of himself. Tuttle was arraigned in the Village of Deposit Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.
