Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that all New Yorkers enrolled in the SNAP will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for November. All households participating in SNAP will receive a supplemental allotment later this month, bringing in roughly $230 million in federal funding into the state’s economy. Struggling New Yorkers continue to rely heavily on SNAP as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, as of September, there were more than 2.77 million SNAP recipients throughout the state.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a trespass in progress Monday at a residence in the Village of Walton. Deputies determined that no trespass had occurred, and that the initial report was the result of a domestic dispute, they determined that 35-year-old Katrina Stanton of Deposit had driven her vehicle to the scene, & Stanton’s Driver’s License was suspended for failure to answer a previous a summons in the Town of Franklin. Oneonta Police have arrested 27 year old Shawn Stilson of Oneonta for Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving and Driving the Wrong way on a 1-Way Road. Stilson is accused of leaving the scene of a domestic dispute, driving his vehicle the wrong way down Fairview Street, across Main Street & over the bridge & down to the Railroad tracks below early Saturday. The vehicle was removed, the bridge was fixed & was re-opened to traffic Saturday afternoon, Stilson was taken to Bassett Hospital, he was treated, released & faces court action at a later date.

The Otsego County Highway Department will close County Highway 45 in the Town of Hartwick to all traffic for 2 more culvert replacements. Tomorrow, crews will be closing highway 45 at the intersection with Lippitt Road, the road should be opened at the end of the day, on Thursday, crews are going to be closing Highway 45 a couple hundred feet south of Schidzick Road, and again the road should be reopened at the end of the day. Detours will be in place through Bill Powers Road, to Towers Road, to Seminary Road & to State Route 28.

The State DOT has notified the City of Oneonta staff that a consultant contracted by DOT will perform a “peak-hour turn-movement study” at the Main Street intersection with the James F. Lettis Highway, beginning next Wednesday, and continuing around the clock for several days. The study’s duration will depend upon weather conditions. Video cameras, which will be mounted on 20-foot-tall poles, will be installed at the intersection on Tuesday; NYSDOT officials emphasized that cameras will record only movements of metal objects, and are not capable of identifying pedestrians, motorists, specific vehicles, or license plates.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Department arrested 18 year old Samantha Clipston of Norwich for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Clipston was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation into the sale and possession of Heroin in the City of Norwich. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Norwich Police Department.

The State court system adopted rules to protect people in debt and make it harder for debt collection companies to win default judgments. The rules will go into effect Oct. 1st. Each year, more than 100,000 credit card collection cases are brought against individuals in New York courts. Under the new rules, creditors will be required to submit affidavits containing detailed proof in support of default judgment applications, including the validity of the debt at issue and the chain of ownership for the debt, and lawyers for creditors must submit an affirmation that the statute of limitations has not expired.
