State Police arrested 56-year-old Michael Muller of Denver, New York for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable BAC result of .24%, 3 times the legal limit. The arrest occurred after a vehicle stop for driving left of the pavement markings on State Route 23 in Davenport, Muller was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Davenport Court on September 23rd.
State Troopers arrested 26-year-old Justin Mullen of Harpursville, for Driving While Intoxicated, following a Motor Vehicle accident at North Road and Dodd Road in Thursday in Windsor. Troopers accuse Mullen of driving off the road & striking a concrete culvert, he was trapped in the vehicle and was removed by members of the West Windsor, Windsor and 5 Mile Point Fire Departments utilizing the Jaws of Life. Mullen was airlifted to Wilson Regional Trauma Center in Johnson City, for multiple internal and external injuries. Mullen was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor Court at a later date.
The latest polling finds Republican congressman Chris Gibson a 24% lead over democratic challenger Sean Eldridge. . The Time Warner Cable News/Siena College poll of likely voters in the 19th Congressional District found Gibson leading Eldridge 57% to 33% with 10% undecided. The poll also showed that Eldridge was unknown by 57% of the voters in the district.
The Binghamton Mets will host game 3 of the Eastern league Championship series tonight against Richmond. 2 Senate Democrats introduced legislation to reduce the financial incentive for corporations to move their headquarters overseas through transactions known as tax inversions. The bill by Senator Chuck Schumer of and Richard Durbin would reduce the practice known as “earnings stripping” in which U.S. subsidiaries deduct up to 50 percent of interest payments on their debt. Schumer and Durbin want to cut the deduction in half and to stop letting corporations carry forward their interest expense deductions to use them in the future. Schumer said he hopes the bill can pick up enough GOP support to pass after the November elections
As part of national preparedness month, the American Red Cross has scheduled blood drives in the tri county area. The next event is tomorrow from 8am to 1pm at the First Congregational Church, corner of Main and Bridge Streets in Sidney. The Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place in Neahwa Park in Oneonta tomorrow, to raise money for research and local suicide prevention efforts. It’s sponsored by the local chapter in formation of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Registration will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Congressman Chris Gibson will speak at the memorial service at 11:00 AM & will participate in the walk.
