The Village of Bainbridge has many activities going on for “Small Business Saturday” as well as through the rest of the Holiday Season, Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce President John Payne explains:

Payne said that holiday activities will continue the following weekend when the Toys for Tots Train is scheduled to stop at the Walnut Street crossing at 12:00 Noon on Saturday December 2nd.

Governor Cuomo reminds New Yorkers that there is free admission to all New York State parks to encourage New Yorkers and their families to take advantage of the more than 335,000 acres of state-owned land. During Thanksgiving weekend, State Parks will offer various family friendly events and programs at locations across the state. The full list of parks is available at parks.ny.gov.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 20-year-old Chantal Baker of Deposit for Harassment & Criminal Mischief, following a Domestic Dispute on November 13th in the Town of Deposit. Baker was arranged in the Town of Tompkins Court and released on her own recognizance, she will appear in the Town of Deposit Court at a later date to answer the said charges.

State officials are reminding Hunters to be extra careful, following a fatal accident in Western New York. DEC officials reported that on Wednesday afternoon, Rosemary Billquist of Sherman, New York was shot by a hunter while walking her dogs in a field by a male subject, who called 9-1-1 and administered first aid. Billquist was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

State Police are continuing to patrol state highways in full force through Sunday night. Police are looking for impaired and distracted driving, drivers who are speeding and those who are violating the “move over” law. Police will have sobriety checkpoints, an underage drinker enforcement, and “Operation Hang Up” in which troopers use unmarked patrol vehicles to spot drivers talking or texting on their phones.

Otsego County deputies arrested 51-year-old Kevin Hallenbake for 10 counts of criminal sexual act. Hallenbake was indicted by a grand jury earlier this year, for allegedly performing sexual acts with an underage female. Hallenbake was arraigned in Otsego County Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail, [ending court action on December 8th.


Congressman Maurice Hinchey passed away at his home in Saugerties Wednesday afternoon. Hinchey served as an assemblyman & Congressman for 38 years before retiring in 2012. The family will announce plans shortly.

Small business Saturday started in 2010, as a way to counteract the Black Friday emphasis on big box stores & and cyber Monday’s emphasis for online shopping.
