On Saturday, dentists with Progressive Dental of Kirkwood, Endwell, Norwich, & Montrose Pennsylvania, and Chenango Bridge Dental will participate in the annual “Doctor With A Heart Program, and will offer free dental care. Spokesperson Michelle Parker explains:

Tomorrow, Chenango County residents will participate in their Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day. Those who have pre-registered can bring their household chemicals, pesticides & Insecticides to the County Highway Garage on Rexford Street in Norwich for collection. The Sidney Alumni Associations Sports Hall of Fame Induction weekend begin tonight during Half Time of the Sidney Football game, Spokesman Greg Davie told WCDO News who is being recognized this year:

The Sidney Central School District and the Sidney SADD chapter are organizing a 5k walk or run on Sunday October 22nd, to help support children with cancer. 100% of proceeds will be given to “Hope and Heroes”. The race will begin at 2:00PM, the Start and finish will be at Sidney Central School District, the course is will be along the river with some small hills. There will be a live band with food and beverage provided after the race. Online registration ends on Saturday October 21st, at 6:00 PM, more information is available at localraces.com

 


Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29 year old Coy Biviano for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, while he was incarcerated at the Chenango County Correctional Facility following an investigation in to stolen property. It is alleged that Biviano was in a residence in North Norwich where he unlawfully took property not belonging to him. The property was later located in the residence were Biviano was staying. Biviano is to appear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.

State Senator Jim Seward joined officials from the Greater Oneonta Historical Society to announce a $250,000 state grant to fund renovation and restoration work at the Oneonta History Center on Main Street. The $250,000 grant is under the state’s 2002 Strategic Investment Program and is administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

Otsego County officials announced that the Exeter Drop-Off Site for bagged garbage and recyclables will stop collecting at 12:00 noon on Saturdays, starting September 23rd. The New hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:00AM to NOON & Saturday 8:00AM – NOON, through September 30th. No commercial haulers or construction debris at the Exeter site. Only bagged garbage and recyclables will be accepted. Bagged garbage is $3/bag. More information is available at 547-4225.

The Chenango Arts Council presents Matt Nakoa for a return engagement at the Martin W. Kappel Theater in Norwich Saturday night, beginning at 7 PM. Nakoa grew up in Smyrna in northern Chenango County, he’s been on the road for more than a decade as a touring musician.
