The Next ReUnite Bainbridge meeting will be held tonight, at 7:00 PM at Bob’s Diner. Bainbridge Chamber President John Payne said that the group has been gaining momentum & has been adding many new events:

Tonight’s agenda includes the Toys for Tots Train on December 3rd, The Christmas Parade December 10the, the next Sleigh Rally, as well as new signage around the village. Bainbridge residents are encouraged to attend & participate.

Governor Cuomo today encouraged New Yorkers to buy local Christmas trees and support tree growers across the state this holiday season. This year Upstate trees were selected to be displayed at the State Capitol in Albany and this year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was selected from the Eichler property on Country Club Road in Oneonta that will be on display there until January 7th. More than 300,000 New York-grown trees are sold by 875 farms in Upstate New York, the state ranks 4th in the U.S. in the number of Christmas Tree farms with an economic impact of $8 million dollars.

One of the bills sitting on Governor Cuomo’s desk for approval this week, would create a tax break for state farmers who donate food, to food banks. Farmers already donate millions of pounds of food every year, but the bill would create a tax credit up to $5,000 annually, that would reduce the costs of harvesting and transporting surplus crops that would otherwise go to waste.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 60 year old John Perico of Hamden for DWI, failure to keep right & moving from a lane unsafely, following an investigation of a 1-vehicle rollover accident Sunday in Hamden. Perico crossed the center of the roadway and rolled over an embankment, he was process & was released on appearance tickets for Town of Hamden Court at a later date.


The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigated a 1-car roll over accident on County Road 39 in the Town of Afton. The accident occurred at about 1:30 pm Sunday, the operator of the vehicle was 64 year old Steven Nickerson of Afton, who was went off the road striking an earth embankment and overturned. Nickerson was pronounced dead at Tri-Town Hospital, Nickerson apparently suffered a heart attack prior at the wheel, which caused him to exit the road.

Amtrak is hosting the Toys for Tots train in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps and in cooperation with the Norfolk Southern and Canadian Pacific railroads. The train will operate on Saturday, December 3rd & depart from Binghamton at 10:45 AM & will arrive Bainbridge at 12:05 pm; it will depart Bainbridge at 12:40 & arrive in Oneonta at 1:30 pm.
