A Cincinnatus man who was reported missing for 8 days & was found alive, Saturday at Wilson hospital, after being reunited with family members. 81-year-old Alfred Turshman died Saturday, Turshman Was reported missing the previous weekend, many area volunteers came out to assist law enforcement efforts. Funeral services will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Cincinnatus, on Thursday at 11:00 AM, family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family requested that donations in Turshman’s name be made to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, or Emergency Squad.

State police responded to a fatal motorcycle accident Friday night in Laurens. 20-year-old Eric Ericson of Laurens was driving north on state Route 205, when he lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to go off the road and strike a fixed object. Ericson was transported to Fox Hospital in Oneonta, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27-year-old Nathan Livingood of Bethany Illinois, for harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and 3rd degree assault, following a report of a fight Thursday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Livingood was arraigned in Walton Village Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail; he is scheduled to re appear at Walton Village Court at a later date.

The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service is flushing water mains today though Wednesday on the low service. Areas affected include east Street from the Water Treatment plant, including streets along the east end, along the Center Street Corridor & over to West Street. Those with questions can call the department at 432-2100.

The City of Oneonta will be conducting “Hot-In-Place” recycling of several streets through Monday August 31st. Work is taking place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day, with flaggers controlling one lane of traffic on those streets. Affected streets for the next 7 days include Walnut, Hudson & Wilcox; those with questions can contact the city Engineering department at 432-6465.

Chenango County Sheriff’s department arrested 57 year old Gregory Huzinec of Pharsalia for 2nd degree burglary and Grand Larceny. Huzinec is accused of entering a residence and a garage and taking property, he was taken into custody without incident, processed, and arraigned in the Town of Pharsalia Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of cash bail to reappear at a later date.

Chenango county sheriff’s deputies arrested 52 year old Kenneth Bingay of Sullivan County for DWI in the Town of Guilford. Bingay was stopped for operating a motor vehicle that was uninspected and was found to be intoxicated. Bingay was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on bail, he will reappear in the Town of Guilford Court at a later date.

Governor Cuomo announced that attendance at New York State Park campgrounds is on pace for another record-setting year, and reminded New Yorkers that many of the state’s finest camping facilities are open for fall camping well into the autumn months. Through August 17, New York State Park campgrounds are on pace for the busiest year on record. Visitors have reserved more than 562,000 overnight stays at State Park campgrounds so far, marking a 5.2 percent increase over 2014. The record set last year was 594,441 overnight stays.

The city of Oneonta FTO-CIC Committee will hold their next regular meeting today. The meeting will begin at 4:00 PM, at 5:00 pm the Oneonta finance –administration committee will hold their meeting, both meetings will be held at Oneonta City hall.

Congressman Chris Gibson will be in Otsego County today. Gibson will visit with Opportunities for Otsego at 1:00 PM at their Oneonta location to discuss the agencies work to combat poverty.
