A 5-K Walk or run will be held on Sunday October 22nd at 1:30 PM at the Sidney Central School, to raise money for the “Hope & Heroes” program, which supports children being treated for Cancer. Sidney Health Ed Teacher Jonathan Yurka is organizing the event:

The Village of Sidney Crews will be paving River Street tomorrow. Paving will be performed from West Road to Winkler Road, motorists are reminded to expect delays.

The investigation is continuing into the fire of a boxcar in Milford Tuesday afternoon. The fire broke out in Tuesday afternoon in a vintage boxcar on the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley track near the Milford depot. Several Area Fire companies responded to the fire that was battled into Tuesday Evening. Investigators labeled the fire as suspicious, no arrests have been announced.

Governor Cuomo announced that $1 million is available for eligible school districts to support the growth of Farm-to-School Programs across New York State. The program helps grades K through 12 connect with local farmers, increase the use of locally grown food on school menus and educate young people about agriculture. Bassett Medical Center is Offering Free Depression Screenings with a Bassett psychotherapist in recognition of National Depression Screening Day. The event will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bassett’s Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic in Cooperstown. Commerce Chenango announced that the Leadership Chenango Kick Off Dinner & Tecklenburg Award Presentation would be held on Today from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. The new class will be introduced at the Leadership Chenango Kick-off dinner, which will feature keynote speaker Charlie Andrews of Alvogen and the presentation of the Tecklenburg award to Martin Dietrich, Chairman of NBT Bancorp.
