Today is the 2nd day of the trial of 64-year-old Ramadan Abdullah of Johnson City, in Broome County Court. Abdullah is accused of stockpiling weapons in various locations in Broome County; he was indicted for 15 counts of criminal possession of a weapon following his arrest in June

Dr. Vance Brown announced that he is stepping down as President of Bassett Medical Center, but will stay on as CEO. Dr. William LeCates has been named as deputy President while a search is conducted to replace Dr. Brown. Dr. Brown announced that the move is part of a restructuring plan at Bassett.

Governor Cuomo continues his push to get the entire New York Congressional Delegation to oppose President Trump’s Federal budget plans that would raise the taxes of New Yorkers:

104-year-old Frank Doolittle of Bainbridge will be presented with the Congressional Gold Medal at a ceremony in Sidney on Saturday, Veteran’s day. Doolittle will receive his medal Saturday at 2:00 PM in a ceremony at the Thomas Z. Fagan Municipal airport from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney; Doolittle served in World War 2 in the US Civil Air Patrol.

The votes have been tabulated, and New York Voters Approved of Proposition #3 Tuesday, which would allow for the forming of a Land Bank, to allow for some projects to move forward on a case by case basis. The move would allow for some projects like making some roads wider & for the construction of bike paths in the Catskills & the Adirondacks.


State Police responded to a report of 3 people attempting to burglarize a home in the Town of Union. Responding troopers observed the reported vehicle & conducted a traffic stop. Police arrested 20 year old Alfred Irish of Endicott, 20 year old Anthony Bennett of Apalachin and 20 year old Vincent Pitts of Vestal, were arrested on Burglary Charges, they were arraigned in the Town of Union Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail with no bail set. Their next court dates are pending.

The State Office of General Services announced a surplus vehicle, highway equipment, and miscellaneous property auction has been scheduled in Binghamton on Wednesday, November 15. State Senator Fred Akshar joined members of the Norwich Fire Department and Norwich Mayor Christine Carnrike to announce approximately $290,000 in State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) funding to purchase two new ambulances for the City of Norwich. The two ambulances were purchased this summer and have already been put into use, rotating into service to replace two older ambulances. Norwich Fire Department covers the City and Town of Norwich and the towns of Plymouth, North Norwich and Preston.
