Governor Cuomo continues to deliver his state of the state addresses at locations around the state; he again called for free Higher education at State Universities for middle class families:

Cuomo will deliver 2 more speeches tomorrow, and then the state legislature will begin work on the governor’s proposal, plus the annual state budget plan.

The City of Oneonta continues to push forward quickly to formulate plans for their aggressive plans to re-do portions of the downtown business district with an eye on the future. Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig commented:

Mayor Herzig said that the state wants finalized plans quickly, so that ground breaking & construction on the new plans can get under this year.

The States “Move-Over Law” has been expanded this month, it requires motorists to slow down and move over when passing authorized emergency vehicles pulled over on the side of the road – includes more types of emergency vehicles. To increase safety, the law now includes any vehicle displaying a blue or green light, such as volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers involved in roadside emergency operations.

State Police Are currently looking for 14-year-old Gabriella Broad from Kirkwood, she was last seen being dropped off at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City, on January 7th, with another teenager to go shopping. It is believed she intended on visiting people in the City of Binghamton without her mother’s knowledge, she is white female 5’ 0″ tall and medium build, she has long Dark Red hair. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 775-1241.

Governor Cuomo today announced an initiative to reduce property taxes by empowering voters to approve locally designed plans that eliminate duplicative services to lower the cost of local government. Taxpayers will then vote on these cost-saving plans in a referendum in the November 2017 general election.

Governor Cuomo signed 2 executive orders to put New York on the fast track to eliminate the wage gap. The executive orders will strengthen equal pay protections in New York by prohibiting all state entities from evaluating candidates based on their prior salary or asking prospective employees their wage history. New York will also require state contractors to disclose data on the gender, race and ethnicity of employees. The Governor signed the Executive Orders as part of the “New York Promise” Agenda to advance principles of social justice, & to affirm New York’s progressive values.

Governor Cuomo announced a new legislative proposal to expand access to ridesharing services throughout New York. Currently, a number of ridesharing companies have successfully operated in New York City over the last several years, however, these companies are not authorized to provide ridesharing anywhere else in the state.

Governor Cuomo announced the Clean Water Infrastructure Act of 2017 to invest a record $2 billion in critical water infrastructure across the State. Funding for projects will prioritize regional and watershed level solutions, and incentivize consolidation and sharing of water and wastewater services. The $2 billion Clean Water Infrastructure Act will provide the capital dollars needed to upgrade municipal drinking water systems, improve municipal wastewater systems, and protect drinking water at its source.

State Police arrested 41-year-old Carl Burrows of Deposit for 2nd degree Assault and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Blood Circulation. Troopers responded to a dispute at a home on Elm Street in Deposit, Burrows allegedly choked a woman and struck a man several times in the face, causing serious injuries. Burrows was located. arrested & was arraigned in the Village of Deposit Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond pending future court action.
