Governor Cuomo outlined 4 major federal cuts, totaling more than $21.2 billion annually, that are part of policies targeted to directly hurt state and local governments, hospitals, and the healthcare for more than 3 million New Yorkers. New York sends $48 billion more to Washington each year than is returned. Governor Cuomo comments:

Cuomo said that instead of ensuring tax cuts to all New York taxpayers, the federal tax plan will create a scenario in which 3.3 million New Yorkers will be double taxed.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 37-year-old Scott Barnhart of Sidney Center for speeding at 72 miles per hour in a 55 miles an hour zone, plus Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device. Barnhart was released on appearance tickets for Town of Franklin Court, Deputies reported that after further investigation, 38 year old Leanne Taggart of Sidney Center was arrested for loaning a motor vehicle without an interlock device to a person required to have one & facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. Taggart was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in Town of Franklin Court on October 26th.

Retailers caught and found guilty of selling untaxed cigarettes in New York State risk losing other state-issued licenses, including lottery and alcohol sales. The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced that it has joined forces with the New York State Gaming Commission and State Liquor Authority in an initiative to further reduce sales of contraband cigarettes. Under the policy, a cigarette-licensed retailer found to be in possession of untaxed cigarettes would face immediate enforcement action, ultimately leading to the possible suspension or revocation of licenses to sell tobacco, alcohol, and lottery tickets.

The State Department of Health and State DMV today reminded State residents that today are State Organ Donor Enrollment Day. Events will be held statewide to increase the number of New Yorkers registered to be organ donors with the New York State Donate Life Registry. Only 28% of New York’s eligible population is enrolled as an organ donor. On average, 22 people die each day in the United States from causes that could have been treated with a donated organ.

Governor Cuomo visited Endicott today & announced the plans for a $140 million plant to produce lithium-ion batteries for the “C4V” company. The announcement of the construction is expected to lead to about 230 new jobs

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28 year old Rena Faige of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop in the Village of Walton. Faige was additionally charged with unlicensed operator, speeding in zone, and was released on tickets returnable to Walton Village Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year old Forrest Weyrauch of East Branch on 1 count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without license plate lights following a traffic stop in the Town of Hancock. Weyrauch is accused of operating a motor vehicle while having 5 active suspensions, he was arraigned at Hancock Village Court and was released on his own recognizance
