Governor Cuomo announced this morning beefed up security measures all over the state, following yesterday’s Terror Attack in Manhattan. Cuomo stated that they would double the security at all places of congregation, airports, tunnels, & Penn Station. This was the second major attack in New York City where someone used a vehicle to mow down pedestrians in the last 4 months. Cuomo said that Flags would be flown at half-staff on Thursday, November 2 to honor the 8 lives lost in yesterday’s terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan.

The New York State Preparedness Corps will conduct disaster preparedness training on Tuesday November 7th at the Sidney Public Library with a session for seniors from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, and another for the General Public from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Carol Allen of the Tri County Senior Center explains:

A.O. Fox Hospital and the Oneonta Job Corps Academy are partnering to bring the Oneonta community its first blood drive competition on November 8th & 9th to benefit the American Red Cross. The competition is called The First Annual Donor Dash: Fox Hospital Spokeswoman Gabby Argo explains:

New York State of Health begins its 5th Open Enrollment Period today. Consumers can enroll in Qualified Health Plans now through January 31, 2018. New York State extended the enrollment deadline beyond the federal deadline of December 15th to give consumers more time to consider their health plan options and enroll. Consumers can enroll in a health plan by: Calling the Customer Service Center at 1-855-355-5777, or be logging on at nystateofhealth.ny.gov.


Fox Hospital in Oneonta is looking for volunteer companions for patients at the Hospital; they will hold a special session today about their program. Fox Hospital Chaplain Reverend Judy Thistle explains:

The Greater Afton Area Chamber Of Commerce announced that they are hosting the next 4-Chamber Meeting this evening at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Highway 7 Bar & Grill in Bainbridge; Commerce Chenango CEO Steve Craig will be the guest speaker.

The Sidney Democratic Committee will have a “Meet the Candidates” session tonight at the Sidney Memorial Library. The candidates will be Supervisor candidate Bill Heath & Town Council Candidates Pete Cordes & Dan Cristelli, the event will run form 6:30 to 8:00 PM, election day is necxt Tuesday November 7th.
