Organizers for the Annual Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament in Norwich are in desperate need to get volunteers for the July 9th event, and the deadline for teams to sign up has been extended. Organizer Tom Revoir explains:

Teams can still sign up online at GusMacker.com, Revoir said that those interested in volunteering could stop at the Norwich YMCA or call him there at 336-9622, extension 29.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation to enact new laws & protocols in dealing with the state’s rising Heroin & Opioid Abuse epidemic:

The legislation followed the findings of various Task Force hearing around the state where lawmakers heard testimony from medical professionals as well as those who have battled the addictions.

The Company that has proposed the Constitution Pipeline is filing a lawsuit after the state DEC rejected the paperwork that was submitted for the plan. Area Assemblyman Cliff Crouch told WCDO News that several area companies were promised low cost natural gas through this plan, and now they are in limbo:

Crouch said that the lawsuits will likely take 2 or 3 years to complete, hopefully the companies like Amphenol, Acco & Raymond will be able to operate at current levels until the Pipeline is approved & built.

The Otsego County Fair officials announced that there were able to get a concert lined up for this year’s Fair, following a request for a show by fairgoers. Spokesperson Lisa Jones explains:

Jones Said that SFCU is sponsoring the concert at this year’s fair, which will run at the fairgrounds in Morris August 2nd through the 7th.

The Greater Chenango Cares IRT event will be held in Norwich at the High School & In Cortland County starting July 15 through the 24th. Chenango United Way Spokesperson Elizabeth Monaco said that county organizers were happy to get the event for an unprecedented 2nd straight year:

Monaco said that volunteers are still needed to help the military personnel with the event; they can get more information by calling the united way at 334-8815.

Fireworks over The Fairgrounds will be held this coming July 4th at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich. Organizer terry Potter explains:

Potter said that the gates would open at 8:30 AM; kids under 15 will get in free.

Oneonta Department of Public Service announced that they would continue to flush Water Mains on the Intermediate Service on Thursday, Friday & Monday, through the residential area of the City North of the Downtown Business District. Water pressure & color may change; those with questions can call the department at 432-2100.
